There are a lot of dropper post levers to choose from, but hands down one of our favorites it the Wolf Tooth ReMote. Our friend, Jeffrey, just installed one on their bike. See what they think about the beautiful piece of machinery.
Recently built up a new Santa Cruz Bronson and needed a dropper to complete the build. I had considered another Fox Transfer since I love the one on my Tallboy, but also have a Reverb just sitting on my counter not being used. However, in the colder months a Reverb isn’t exactly a ball busting popper due to the hydraulics getting cold, and we all know what a pain in the back side bleeding the Reverb is. It’s a messy job, and in the past I’ve had the oil leak like a sieve. The Transfer was looking like the go to dropper for me, again.
I jumped on Worldwide Cyclery website, my immediate go to site, and started searching for my new dropper. I also had to investigate a new lever, since Fox’ dropper isn’t, well let’s just say I prefer Wolf Tooth’s dropper lever, so typed in “wolf tooth lever” on Worldwide’s site (they have a great search engine too) and up pops all Wolf Tooth’s levers. I noticed the “sustain” and said “let’s check this out”... Watched a few links and said “this looks easy even for my old ass”... the Wolf Tooth Sustain allows you to modify your Reverb to mechanical, so bleeding is never an issue again. Hmmm, this is a no brainer.... if all else fails, I’m still gonna get a Wolf Tooth dropper lever out of the deal. And y’all, Worldwide has pretty darn good deals, and they let you gamble every time you go to their site for a discount code ranging from 7% to 20% (my best has only ever been a 15% code, but that’s fricken awesome!), so I ordered the Wolf Tooth Sustain B (yeah, you have to order the correct on for the Reverb model you’re using, but their site will guide you thru).
Few days later (Worldwide also ships quick, and FREE!) package shows up. The Wolf Tooth Sustain lever is the same high quality shit we all come to expect from Wolf Tooth. I ordered iSpec AB because it directly mounts to my Hope Tech 3 brakes. Watched to video again for installation (can find on Wolf Tooth’s website) just to refresh my old brain. Installation took me about 30 minutes or so, but I’m slow to perform perfection, but it was super easy. I did pump my post up to 250psi as the video said (but dammit, don’t!)... finished the install, placed the lever on my brakes, connected the cable, tightened it all up. First attempt: thumbed the lever and pushed down my seat. Wolf Tooth’s lever on the Sustain is as smooth as Wolf Tooth’s easy throw lever I have hooked up on my other bike. Pushed down the seat to check it out. Post was a bit firm and I said “oh my”, then I let her rip... my god, I thought it was going to shoot thru the roof of my garage. Damn, it was the fastest dropper I’d have ever seen come up... Cool, now time for a test ride. My ass didn’t have a hard time pushing the dropper down at all, then I let it rip again... well y’all, remember that dude telling you to put 250psi into the Reverb... DON’T! I popped off my saddle and adjusted air to about 125psi.... perfect! Still as fast or faster than my Fox Transfer... And I went riding that same day (40 degree morning) and the cold weather didn’t slow the Reverb down at all. I love it. Even my son loves it, and he hated them so much that he actually threw a brand new one away.
In final, Wolf Tooth’s Sustain Dropper conversion kit is a must have if you’re running a Reverb Dropper. No more bleeding and no more slow action return, and easy enough for just about anyone to install (or take it to your LBS if that’s your thing) Wolf Tooth’s innovation and high quality products are unsurpassed and really nailed it this time... and WorldWide Cyclery carries all their stuff, including the Sustain A or B
