When you have the right tool for the job, it's a very satisfying thing. But what about a tool that exceeded the standard for what is needed? ParkTool does just that with their BBT-69.2 bottom bracket tool. Our friend, Adam has been wrenching with the tool. See what they think!
The Park Tool BBT-6.92 is a great little tool and well worth the cost if you want to tighten your threaded BB to the proper torque. I picked this up from Worldwide Cyclery a few months back because I wanted to the torque on my threaded GXP BB. This tool makes easy work of both loosening and tightening the bottom bracket. Knowing that you've torqued it correctly provides peace of mind, and also helps when you're trying to eliminate the dreaded "creak" - on way to rule out your BB as the source of the creak.
I had been using the Park BBT-9, which is decent - but in my mind has two drawbacks compared to the BBT-6.92: first, the BBT-6.92,
when used with a torque wrench, takes the "guess work" out of getting to the proper torque;
second, the BBT-6.92 fits snug on the BB and stays in place - whereas the BBT-9 may shift out of position / alignment if you're not mindful.
The BBT-6.92 fits perfectly on the SRAM GXP BB, and interfaces nicely with my torque wrench. I highly recommend the BBT-6.92 if you want to be able to service your threaded BB.
