Trying to learn how your suspension works can get very confusing. It's indeed a rabbit hole to say the least. However, Quarq offers the Shockwiz to help you better understand what your suspension is doing. See what our customer thanks of the Shockwiz!!
I’m running a Fox Float X & Fox 36 on a 29er. I did have to buy extra 11” zip ties. I already used the two 11” zip ties that came with the Shockwiz. Once you got to move the Shockwiz. You will Abe to cut the current zip ties. You can even double up on shorter zip ties to make it work too. My bike used to feel more like a Jack hammer on rough terrain. Now I feel like I’m more smoothly plowing over the things that used to give off a bad jackhammer sensation. My bike definitely has more of a smoother feel. I am very thankful about this part alone! Now I feel like I can enjoy rougher terrain because I used to hate it. That rough jackhammer feel used to wear my arms & hands slap out from death gripping the bars, but I can enjoy my ride more now.
I have been working on setting up a profile for each type of trail I ride and trying to tune it to perfection. I don’t have a “default” tune for everywhere. I usually YouTube the trail system to see what the terrain is like, pick my closest trail system profile, set the tune up, & see how close that profile tune is for the new trail system. I understand some people have a very acute sense for their suspension and don’t need a Shockwiz, but if you’re reading this review. I feel like we are in the same club because we are not one of those people. My friend has a default profile and he uses that for everything, but it is currently tuned to how he likes to ride & will change as his riding skills progress.
If you just want to have one default good tune (rent a set of 2), but I don’t believe one tune is suitable for every type of trail and riding style. In hindsight, would I buy the Shockwiz again? Yes, without a doubt because my body/gear weight fluctuates a good bit, the trails I ride are massive different, I love the data statistics from the Shock wiz, I enjoy the simple information breakdown for each category, I really like having the different profile for each type of trail, & the Shockwiz has given me more confidence to shred harder! Even if you don’t have to have a Shockwiz connected to the app. You can see, make, view, or edit any of your current profiles & their settings. After my friend and I ride. We like to compare our jumping statistics to see how we did for the day. When it says the longest jump is only around 1 second or a littler over that. It definitely feels like we were in the air a lot longer than that!
The money I spent on the Shockwiz was well spent. For those that find the price to be too steep. When you’re done your Shockwiz and don’t want it anymore. Sell it to someone in your biking community and recoup some of the cost. That way you get some money back and to help make someone else’s biking experience better!
