DT Swiss is arguably one of the biggest wheel companies in the industry, and they offer a wide variety of high quality wheels. Their E 1900 wheel strikes a great balance between performance and value. Our friend, Rene, got their hands on a DT Swiss E 1900 Spline wheel. See what they think!
I wanted to upgrade my wheels with a wider rim 25mm or 30mm. My bike had 22mm wide wheels that worked OK with 2.2 and 2.3 tires but they will burp sealant when using wider tires and cornering hard. I didn't want to break the bank with carbon wheels...
but I wanted something I could throw anywhere with confidence and hit some jumps...
After doing tons of online research (product reviews by professionals and common riders), I got to the DT Swiss E 1900 spline 30 as the best bang for the buck. I was also very interested in the M 1900 series because of its awarded ratchet system, however price difference was significant... So, decided to wait for the next time. Back again to the E 1900 series, the following step was to find the right size, availability, best price, a legit website, free and fast shipping... That was how I finally got to Worldwide Cyclery guys... On top of that, I received the very same day an email from Worldwide Cyclery with a weird seasonal discount code... Something like 12.3495897190259%. So, I placed my order and waited.
Shipping was super fast and got my new DT Swiss E 1900 before the estimated delivery day. Good protective packaging. Unboxed it and looked for any possible dent during the shipping. Everything right and flawless. Perfectly true wheels and ready tubeless tape looking awesome. The only thing I forgot was the presta valve. For the price I thought it would be included but it wasn't like in many other brands. So, I had to remove the presta valve from my old wheels (DT Swiss 533D) while installed a new Maxxis High Roller 2 that I had waiting in my toolbox... Tubeless tire install process seemed to be easy and without complications... I used Stan's no tubes sealant but when inflating with the air compressor, I saw and heard three or four different leaks. At the beginning, I thought it was some issue with the rim tape despite it was perfectly set up from factory. I was so excited and desperate to have my new wheels ready that I just took everything to my local bike shop for a quick check. They inspected the wheel and there was absolutely nothing wrong... I was the problem when poorly mounted the tire bead into the rim. So, the guy at the bike shop just laughed. He told me that the DT Swiss E 1900 was an awesome buy. He also mentioned that the M 1900 were even better but that they were mainly for dentist bikes.
Drove back home and went out to try it out. Rolling, cornering and feeling is just great. I love how my bike looks and rides. Now I think I'll save some extra money to get another DT Swiss E 1900 set now for my hardtail. Totally recommend it... 5 out of 5.
