Wolf Tooth Waveform Pedals - Amazing Feel & USA Made

What Happens When One Of The Highest Quality Component Brands Make An Alloy Pedal?

A few weeks ago Wolf Tooth Components released their new Resolve Dropper Post, marking an entry into a completely new product line for them. Now the Minnesota brand is doing it again with the Wolf Tooth Waveform Pedals. From a brand that puts quality first and an emphasis on American-made products come some pedals that are sure to live up to the Wolf Tooth standard. With Wolf Tooth’s motto of “Right to Repair”, the Waveform pedals are fully serviceable with each individual part of the pedal being available for aftermarket purchase. This means you can fully service the pedals after use, replace broken parts if that happens and make just one set of pedals last quite a long time.

What's new:

Wolf Tooth didn’t reinvent the wheel per se with the Waveform pedal but they did take their time to create a really quality product and took into consideration every small detail. The body of the pedal is machined from 6061 aluminum, the spindles are made from stainless steel and the whole system uses three bearings and an Igus bushing. The Waveform pedal is designed, machined, assembled, and shipped from their facility in Minnesota. There are also two different sizes to choose from, a small (105mm x 99mm) and a large (112mm x 106mm) weighing in at 373 g and 384 g, respectively. The Waveform is also available in four colors, Black, Blue, Orange, and Purple.

First Impressions:

With a few rides on the Waveform pedal we have enough for a first impression, but not enough time for a full review and durability test. First, let's just say these pedals look amazing. Like most products that Wolf Tooth produces, the machining and quality are top-notch. The colors are also bright and vibrant. We got the Orange pair in for a test in size large and they look great, especially with our fall colors. When you first put on the Waveform pedals and go for a ride, you can certainly feel the concave profile. I've always been a fan of a concave pedal ever since my BMX days. The way the concave shape holds your foot in is a key part of a pedal for me. I know that is a personal preference but I would rather take a concave pedal that might be a bit thicker (simply due to the nature of a concave design) over a convex pedal that might have thinner leading edges.

After a few rides, I can say the Waveform pedal is a solid addition to the current lineup of mountain bike pedals. While there are some other pedals already on the market that might have a very similar spec, Wolf Tooth delivers this package fully made in the USA with service parts readily available. This isn’t something that a lot of other companies offer, especially right at launch. So far I've had no pedal slips, my foot stays locked in while riding and we are keen on riding this pedal a lot more!

What’s Worldwide’s Takeaway?

The new Waveform Pedal from Wolf Tooth Components is a great addition to high-end alloy pedals on the market. Being made in the USA, the Waveform pedal is fully serviceable with spare parts to buy when needed. The Waveform is offered in two sizes and four colors (black, blue, orange and purple) with a concave design. After our first few rides we have only great things to say so far and really dig the new offerings that Wolf Tooth Components is bringing to the market.
