We all love a company that gives back to the community. Trail One Components will give back $1 to trail builders for every product purchased. Not only Is Trail One offering high quality components, they're supporting getting more trails built! Our friend, Avison, has been running the Crockett bars. See what they think!
I recently purchased a new bike, Propain Tyee. Before pulling the trigger on the Tyee, I did plenty of research and an honest analysis of my riding style and the terrain. There were a few other bikes on my mind and it was a hard decision for me.
I wanted a slightly higher rise bar than the 20mm that the bike came with, so decided to try the 35mm Trail1 handlebars and 40mm stem. Both these components complement the bike well.
The Tyee comes with carbon cranks. My previous bike had aluminum cranks and I had plenty of crank/pedal strikes from the rocks during techy climbs. Crank Brothers pedals and SRAM crank boots were a must.
The Review:
Before taking the bike on a rough trail, I did plenty of rides on flow trails. All the components that I added made for a nice smooth ride.
It’s now Sunday evening as I’m typing this, and I just came back from taking the bike through a short rough decent, which is where the real review comes to play.
During my rough descent, I washed out my front wheel on a patch of very soft sand, in the middle of a rock garden. How’s that possible!? The soft sand caught my front wheel and threw me over my handlebars. The bike hit a few rocks and rolled a few times. It’s now safe to say, I’m over the ‘babying the bike’ stage.
The Trail1 handlebar took a few hits and a mild scratch. The Trail1 stem still looking pretty upfront. The Crank Brothers pedals and crank boots did their thang. I felt them hit a few rocks during my climb up.
I almost forgot to mention. Last week, I also purchased a basic frame protector from Worldwide Cyclery. It took more patience than hours in order to apply the frame protector. For the most part, it held up to 2 hours’ worth of riding in the northern Arizona rocks.
With a few battle scars to show, the bike, the components I ordered from Worldwide Cyclery, and myself are holding up fine. We’ll be ready for another fun ride down the chunky rocks.
All in all, the trail one components have been a great upgrade to my cockpit. Not only are you getting a great looking cockpit, you're also giving back to the trail builders!
