How Do You Improve Our Favorite Bike?
Almost 2 years ago, Revel Bikes introduced the Ranger to their lineup to offer an efficient, full suspension carbon 29" mountain bike that blurs the lines between XC and Trail mountain biking. At 115mm of rear travel combined with a 120mm fork, the Ranger is the perfect bike for all day exploring rides, or for post work rides where time is of the essence and efficiency matters. Now Revel has released a Ranger V2 version that sees some improvements but doesn't change what we love about this bike. The Ranger has been a staple bike of our employees at Worldwide Cyclery as it fits the need for our local trails and riding styles. Our very own @liam @zack @dom all raced the Breck Epic last year, a multi-day stage race deep in the high elevation Rocky Mountains, aboard a Revel Ranger, which was the right tool for the job. This might be our favorite offering from Revel!
What’s New: If It’s Not Broke, Don’t Fix it
Revel has now introduced the Ranger V2, a very similar yet refined version of the already proven chassis. Geometry remains the same on this updated version as Revel did not find it necessary to make any drastic changes to a platform that performs so well already.
Ranger V2 now comes with a UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger) interface. SRAM introduced this standard to fix the confusion and mess in the bike industry involving different derailleur hangers, now to be simplified to one unit. Additionally, this interface only works with SRAMs newest revolutionary Transmission T-Type Drivetrain, which comes stock on Ranger V2 completes.
There is a new rear triangle that has been changed to allow more tire clearance and with a better carbon layup, making it a bit lighter in the process. Across the CBF suspension linkage, Revel has added double wide, larger, and better quality bearings. Combined with better bearings are improved hardware for better strength, reliability and serviceability. The upper yoke on the V2 has been hollowed out to save weight and we must mention that this new link also looks amazing. All of these are welcome changes that when combined adds a claimed 20% stiffer frame and rear triangle.
The new colors for Ranger V2 include Tang (Orange) and Raw Carbon with bronze decals.

CBF Suspension:
Found on Ranger V2 and Revels full suspension lineup is the CBF Suspension platform. Designed and licensed by Chris Canfield and Revel bikes, this design focuses on the center of curvature of the bike, something that most suspension systems do not account for. This allows for a bike that has better pedaling performance throughout the whole range of travel. For a more detailed explanation, check out our video explaining the CBF suspension design!
Final Thoughts:
The Revel Ranger has been one of our most popular bikes here at Worldwide Cyclery for its fast, efficient and fun characteristics. We have not seen a need to make a fundamental change to this bike, so the changes that were made from Revel are great to see and are appreciated. The UDH interface will future proof this bike and allow compatibility with SRAM’s Transmission T-Type Drivetrain, a perfect pairing for the Revel Ranger V2. Updated hardware, bearings and refined carbon layups produce a stiffer ride in all the right places and help with serviceability and robustness throughout. We have been riding this bike for a little bit now and are impressed with the ride quality and quietness that this whole system produces, oh and did we mention that it looks incredible! We can’t wait to stoke out our customers aboard one of these
