Having the right tool for any scenario is one of the best feelings as a mountain biker. No matter the circumstance, having the confidence and ability to work on your own bike can be a major time and money saver. Park Tool is leading the way in MTB tools and their Torque Wrench is no different. In this review, our customer Matt gives us his thoughts on his. Check it out!
As I’ve progressed as a cyclist, I’ve committed to becoming more proficient at maintaining my bikes. I still rely on my local bike shop for major servicing but I’m trying to take care of smaller tasks myself. To this end, I’ve slowly been building up a tool kit with the tools needed to perform these tasks. I’ve found Park Tools products to be best in class, in both form and function. The materials they use to build the tools give you confidence it will last you a lifetime and stand up to the job. And for those instances when they don’t, Park Tool has a great warranty policy and will work with you on replacing your broken item.
As the parts found on bikes are getting more and more refined, so too are the requirements for their proper installation and adjustment. Over tightening or under tightening bolts holding together suspension linkage, drive drains or steering can damage these parts or even worse result on breaking (the parts or yourself!). To protect against this I purchased the Park Tool TW-5.2 Torque Wrench so I can achieve the manufactures recommend torque specs when installing or adjusting them.
The Park Tool TW-5.2 is easy to use, fits well in either hand and most importantly has precise torque adjustment for those lower value Nm’s (2-14). It comes in a sturdy case so it won’t get damaged when not in use. Among other things, I use it to make sure my stem bolts, stem cap, and seat post clamp are torqued properly before rinding. I would highly recommend it as well as the Park Tool SBS-1 Socket and Bit Set.
