OneUp Components is a company that solves a problem by literally one upping its competitors. OneUp took their V2 dropper post and allowed the owner to adjust the travel if the person decided to get a new bike or whatever the case is. Our friend Hunter has been running it, see what they think!
Five Stars: I would recommend this dropper to anyone with a trail or enduro bike. The One Up Dropper is a great value for what you get and can be adjusted to the perfect size. It’s buttery smooth, responds quickly, and can be the most convenient add-on for a bike.
Why I purchased this dropper post:
Recently my dropper post that came with my bike stopped working properly. The post would not stay in place when down which caused a lot of rattling and if you pick the bike up by the seat, the dropper would extend. It was 150mm and instead of replacing the internals, I decided to upgrade to the One up 210mm dropper. Being a taller rider I wanted as much drop as possible. After some research, I was not sure if 210mm would be too tall, but I knew that with the adjustable height the one up was the right choice.
First Impression and Install:
My first impression was that the dropper looked great and that amount of travel was perfect. The install process wasn’t too bad on my 2019 aluminum Capra (which has a 31.6mm diameter seat post). One up is trying to stay light on packaging so it was just the dropper post, a small bag with grease, parts to lower the overall travel, a small black metal piece, and the cardboard it came in. Instead of install instructions, I just used YouTube and I’m glad I did otherwise I wouldn’t have put the tiny black metal piece on the end of the remote cable. This is just to make sure the cable doesn’t slip off. I ended up leaving the dropper at 210mm and still have about 2 inches of insertion on my YT Capra (I’m 6’3” if that helps for travel). I paired the dropper with a brand new wolf tooth dropper lever and it looks and feels great. One feature I liked about the One up dropper is that valve to increase or decrease air pressure. I did notice it's hard to get exact though. One up recommends 250psi to 300psi. I ended up using my shock pump to get it to 300 and when you unscrew the valve air is released. I did notice the one up is much quicker and smoother than my previous one. One trail works exactly how it should. No play, buttery smooth, responsive, and the extra 60mm of travel feels great on the downhills getting the seat out of the way.
I would recommend it to anyone who needs a dropper post. It looks and works great and is at a much better price point than a lot of other options on the market. There is the right size for anyone and you can adjust the height if needed. It also has a replaceable internal cartridge which can extend the life of the dropper and make servicing easy.
