Dropper posts basically have become a non-negotiable component for most bikes and riders. There are so many options out there and nowadays most of them work really well. The Oneup Components dropper though has to be one of the most popular because it's so versatile and will fit for just about anyone. Fellow rider, Samuel Gacad-Cowan recently purchased one and gave us his thoughts. Check it out!
The OneUp components dropper post is my first dropper post, so I don't have much to compare it with. It's super short but has A LOT of travel. I wanted a dropper post that went as low as possible, and I read that the OneUp dropper post is the shortest long-travel dropper post available. It only works on bikes with internal routing for a dropper post, so make sure your bike is compatible before you order.
It arrived in minimal packaging – a cardboard box and no installation instructions. It was super shiny and has a nice solid feel to it. The post attaches to the saddle rails with a two-bolt clamp design that’s easy to adjust for position and angle. The actuator is gold and looks to have a high-quality build standard.
It doesn’t come with a remote – you have to buy it separately. Fortunately, the installation was pretty straightforward, considering my frame was equipped with internal routing. The switch comes with plenty of cable and housing – it was basically the perfect length for me, so I didn’t need to cut anything.
The maiden voyage was awesome. The bike was easier to ride, especially in varying terrain with lots of switching from climbing, descending, flats and sprints. In its lowest position, it’s completely out of the way on my Marlin 6 – maybe 2 inches above the seat post collar. I’ve had it for about two months now, riding six days a week, and it still works perfectly. It also looks pretty awesome. I recommend it, especially if you're looking for a short dropper post.
