Fox's DPX2 replaced the Float X a few years back and since then we have seen it on all sorts of bikes. With incredible performance and tuneability, riders all over the world have seen to benefits of running the DPX2 and so have we which is why so many of us make the upgrade here at the shop. Let's see what one of our customers thought of the upgrade:
I had been eyeballing this rear shock for quite some time! I was doing a lot of research between the Float X2 and DPX2. I ride a Santa Cruz Bronson currently which came stock with a Monarch. Great shock, I just wanted more tunability. I am an expert rider, love hitting local trails, and also going to our bike parks in CA when they are open. That being said, I needed a rear shock capable of doing everything and I am so glad I finally pulled the trigger on the DPX2!
Once I received this rear shock, I took it out of the box and realized I forgot to buy the hardware, my mistake. This kind of disappointed me a little bit spending this much on a rear shock and the hardware is not included. However, I understand there are so many variations to sizing with newer bikes. Luckily, I have access to make small parts like this and it was not an issue.
Installing the shock was easy. Before I put it on my bike, I installed a larger volume spacer because I knew I would want it more progressive.
Rode it around my house a little, made small adjustments, and headed out to Mammoth. Riding the first day I was blown away how well this shock felt right away. I did a little climbing and left it fully open every time which was amazing, I didn’t have to go reaching down every time I needed to pedal. On the downhill it felt really planted and absorbed the bigger bumps really well. I was even able to tune out the small chatter very easily on the trail! The second day I was so pumped to get back on my bike. We rode a lot of the jump lines and DH trails this day. I never doubted this shock no matter how chunky or big the section was. Always went into every section with confidence knowing this shock would handle pretty much everything. It was interesting comparing it to my previous rear shock. I felt like the DPX2 really livened up the bike and that is exactly what I was looking for. Even when I got back home and rode my local trails, it out performed the Monarch by far. There is a lot of climbing on our local trails and I still left the shock fully open which felt the best. I haven’t even tried the climb switch, maybe that’s just preference.
"I am very pleased with the DPX2. I would highly recommend this shock to anyone who is riding a trail bike and wants something very user friendly. Honestly, I don’t think I will go back to RockShox at the moment just because of how well this rear shock is working for me." - A Cool Customer
