Although it is mostly personal preference, we have seen a crazy number of Ergon SM pro saddles go out lately. Clearly, Ergon has designed a top-notch product as our staff and customer can't seem to get enough. With a special channel to alleviate pressure, the Ergon SM Pro saddle might be your next purchase. So I used to have a carbon seat...and then I cased a double real bad and boom no more seat. Not ideal! So I went about researching so options and came across Ergon's SM Pro saddle.
I'm no doctor, but it certainly makes sense that men and women should have different saddles. I was intrigued to read (ok..fine, watch a youtube video) about Ergon's Men's specific version, specifically, the fancy heat map they had that moves the contact areas to where you want them (and away from where you don't).
Moneywise, this saddle was in the range of the others I was looking at and since it's pretty critical to have a seat on your bike, I went ahead and ordered.
A few days later, I had my saddle, and my buttocks couldn't be happier. It certainly feels like it moves the weight distribution back to your sit bones and away from your, well, sensitive areas. Plus I like the blacked-out look with minimal branding.
Two months in and the saddle is still going strong, despite my continued ability to case jumps on the regular.
I recommend this for 50% of the human population (and 100% of guys) although my girlfriend did manage to ride my bike without noticing she was on a men's saddle so it's probably fine for the ladies as well.
Ok, you caught me...I don't have a girlfriend since I spend all my time and money on mountain biking but if I did, she wouldn't have noticed!
