Wolf Tooth Components is a brand we expect to produce nothing but quality components. In the early days, this was in the form of 1x chainrings, 1x conversion kits, and dropper post remotes. Since then, Wolf Tooth has expanded into all types of components with more chainring options, more dropper post remotes, seat post clamps, thru-axles, drivetrain hacks and fixes, tools, and, one of my personal favorites, the B-Rad accessory system. Well, the quality hasn’t stopped and neither has the innovation. Today, Wolf Tooth drops their new self-bleeding dropper post: the Wolf Tooth Resolve Dropper Post. With a proprietary cartridge that bleeds out any air in the system every time the post is dropped in its travel. No more squish, no more needing to remove your post to fix the squish. It’s all quality and no gimmicks.
As mentioned above, the Resolve dropper post’s new standout trait is the self-bleeding cartridge, aiming for an issue-free and extremely reliable dropper post. One other huge trait is the Resolve has the shortest stack of any post currently on the market at just 32 mm. This low stack allows you to run that dreamed of 200 mm travel option. Another huge benefit is the weight as the Resolve is one of the lightest dropper posts on the market when looking at grams per millimeter of travel.
The Resolve dropper post is extremely easy to service for a couple of reasons. The post comes with the tool you need to take it apart and each individual part is available to the consumer should you need to replace anything. Everything has been designed to allow the confident home mechanic to do the services needed at home.
As with many dropper posts now, installation is pretty straightforward. With a normal cable being used, there is a bushing to hold the cable head at the bottom of the post and then you tighten the cable at the dropper remote. I did check to make sure the post was at its indicated max pressure of 280 psi before installing the saddle. One thing you can feel is the quality of each part, from the machined post and smooth actuation to the machined saddle cradles and quality bolts. My particular model is the 200 mm option, which thanks to the super short stack height gives me a little extra post compared to my previous 200 mm post.
Only having a few rides on the dropper, I can't speak to its long-term reliability, but I can say there have yet to be any issues with it. The post is firm, smooth, and feels like a quality piece of equipment. I know for sure it will stay on my bike as I prefer this feeling to my previous 200 mm post that was on the bike. In the future, I would like to compare this Wolf Tooth to a previous shop favorite: the Bike Yoke Revolve 213 mm. They are both high quality posts and have air bleeding traits.
Since I didn’t find any cons with my short time using the post, I can’t make a Pros and Cons section, so below are my favorite highlights:
The Wolf Tooth Resolve Dropper Post hits the nail on the head, but we didn’t expect anything different coming from a company that always produces quality components. A self bleeding cartridge, lowest stack height on the market, great gram to travel ratio, fully machined parts, and the ability to service the post at home make the Resolve dropper a winner in our book. With travel options of 125 mm, 160 mm and 200 mm in both 30.9 and 31.6 options, there is something for everyone. And one of my favorite aspects of the Wolf Tooth dropper? It fills my need to have matching bike parts, like my dropper post and remote.
