A few things on your mountain bike can make a huge difference in either a ride being very enjoyable or not so much. If your chainring works great you completely forget it's there, which is a good thing. Our friend Tyler Warga shares his thoughts on the Wolf Tooth Components Drop-Stop 34T RaceFace CINCH Direct Mount chainring.
I originally ordered a non-boost RaceFace 36t chainring for my Santa Cruz Tallboy. I soon realized that the ring was too big for the bike, it was scratching the frame. After looking for the correct ring, I had remembered that my previous bike had a Wolf Tooth ring on it with over 2000 miles on it with no issues. I purchased the Wolf Tooth Drop-Stop RaceFace CINCH Direct Mount chainring 34T for the Tallboy, making sure I selected the boost spacing ring to give me the correct spacing with the rear hub. This ring looks great and is as excepted with excellent quality.
Installation was easy, especially for the RaceFace Turbine crank, which is connected via “direct mount”. With no chainring bolts required, I torqued it down using a standard crank tool. I have now ridden on it for about 500 miles without any issues. The Wolf Tooth gearing, paired with an XT 11-42 is sufficient in Michigan and I noticed that it was slightly quieter than my previous chainring. As mentioned above in my opinion, it also looks better than my previous RaceFace ring.
Additionally, ordering from Worldwide Cyclery was a breeze. Worldwide Cyclery offered a wide variety of chainrings from Wolftooth (boost, non-boost, and all the different sizes). It shipped free to my house, arriving within a few days. Needless to say, I would highly recommend purchasing this chainring. I expect to continue purchasing Wolf Tooth products, along with other cycling products, from Worldwide Cyclery!
