We are back with another episode of Trending MTB Products. If you are new to the channel, we go over some of the most popular items being purchased by real life customers and share them with you in the hopes that you learn something new and maybe find something you've always needed. This time, our guy Jeff Cayley is alone but still manages to cover a hefty amount of popular products that you are not going to want to miss! Starting us off is the Industry Nine Tubeless Valve Stems. These puppies come in 11 different anodized colors and hold up the claims of having a "no clog" design. Next up is the Wolf Tooth Components ReMote Dropper Lever which might be the most popular and proven dropper remotes on the market right now. It also happens to be Jeff's favorite lever to date! Moving on, we introduce Specialized and Roval to our catalog. They make some of the coolest and useful components on the market and we are stoked to take them on. Most notable is the Zee II Bottle cage which features an integrated multitool and holder, keeping your pockets free for more snacks. From there we go into the Crankbrothers easy-release clipless cleats. These have gained a lot of popularity since the release of the Crankbrothers Shoes! Next up is the AbsoluteBLACK Oval Chainring. These can be seen all over our Instagram account as everyone is converting to an oval chainring. With their variety of colors, beautiful machining, and almost any mounting type imaginable, you bet people are stoked to try them out. Moving further we dive into the SRAM NX Eagle Cassette which is a very affordable 12-speed cassette that works with the standard Shimano HG Freehub body that almost every bike pre-2015 will come equipped with. Next up is the Fox Lower Leg Service Tool Set for those home-mechanics to properly service their Fox Forks. Lastly, Jeff goes over the RockShox MegNeg Upgrade Kit. An easy to install air can upgrade to the Super Deluxe shock that you don't want to sleep on! So go grab a cold one, sit back and learn yourself a thing or two about these Trending MTB Products!
Industry Nine is well known for their high end hubs, wheelsets, and stems, but did you know that they also make quality no-clog tubeless valve stems in a variety of colors? Well, if you didn't, now you do! These valve stems will give your wheels that touch of color and style to match your other anodized components and instantly give you major street cred. Their simple design also makes it super easy to remove old, dried up sealant and keep your valves fresh. Lots of companies make tubeless valves, but few are this stylish.
Few things can transform the feel of a cockpit like a quality dropper seatpost remote. The first time you use a Wolf Tooth remote, it makes it easy to see why its a top seller and a long time shop favorite. Knowing that your dropper seatpost is connected to a quality remote on the other end with a sealed bearing and solid lever will give you the type of peace of mind that is normally reserved for napping dogs. Wolf Tooth dropper remotes also feature a plastic breakaway point, which is incredibly useful in the event of a crash - with other levers you would be left replacing the entire part, whereas with the Wolf Tooth lever you are looking at simply a few dollars to get you back up and running.
When the pandemic hit, service lead times at bike shops across the world skyrocketed, which led to many riders taking service into their own hands. Servicing your suspension is critical to maintaining its performance, and performing that service becomes quite a bit easier when you have the right tools. Enter the Fox Lower Leg Removal Tool Set. Simply thread these onto the lower ends of the damper and air spring once the rebound knobs and nuts are removed, and use these tools along with a shop hammer to break them loose and remove the fluid and the lower legs. All you need is a seal driver tool and a downhill tire lever in addition to some basic tools and you have everything you need to perform a basic lower leg service on your Fox fork.
Oval chainrings have been all the rage lately, and you can find them on many of the bikes that we ride, build and service. AbsoluteBlack is at the forefront of oval chainring research and have been developing them for years - so it makes sense that they are some of the most popular chainrings that we sell. Not only have they been proven to improve efficiency and power output, but they are also precisely machined and anodized to add a serious custom touch to your bike. If you haven't seen it, check out our video where we put these ovals head to head, back to back with their round counterparts.
The release of SRAM Eagle a few years ago was welcomed by the MTB masses, especially for some of us who felt that the 42t cog on our 11 speed wasn't quite forgiving enough for some of those big steep climbs combined with our wimpy legs. Now with the wide range 10/11-50t 12 speed cassettes, you are able to climb up steep and technical climbs with the grace of a 4x4 in low range and still run a 30t chainring up front, or cruise up that long climb as cool as a cucumber. The NX Eagle cassette works with standard HG or "Shimano style" freehub bodies, so it makes it a popular choice for riders looking to upgrade to a 1x12 drivetrain, but don't want to break the bank getting a new freehub or rear wheel.
One of the most challenging things when transitioning from flat pedals to clipless is adapting to the sensation of clipping in and out of your new pedals, especially when everything is fresh and not worn in yet. Thankfully, Crank Brothers offers several different styles of cleats to modify the feel and ease of getting in and out of your pedals. These "Easy Release" cleats say it all, they make it easier for you to get out of those pedals when you want to and need to. They install easily on your clipless shoes and are adjustable. Check out our amazing video where Jeff and his hair tell you everything you need to know about how to set up your Crank Brothers Cleats right, the first time.
One of the best parts of coil-sprung suspension is how amazingly supple it feels off the top, but one of the downsides of coils is they aren't as progressive as an air shock. That is where the MegNeg comes in. The MegNeg is designed for Deluxe and Super Deluxe air shocks and was engineered to give that coil like suppleness off the top combined with the ability to ramp up towards the end of the stroke by improving the negative air volume. Talk about the best of both worlds. Our man Liam has been running these since they were released last year and loves them, so check out his experience with it and full review on it here.
We have recently begun carrying an array of Specialized products, and one of their most popular accessories is the Zee Cage. The cage is not only side loading (which we like) but it also carries a tool on the bottom for any trail side maintenance or adjustments (which we also really like.) We also carry a number of their other products including their impressive Roval wheels in addition to their numerous tires, nifty accessories and high quality soft goods as well.
