Here are the trending products for October of 2020. It's no secret that the bike industry has been booming with the changes we have had this year. With more interest than ever before in mountain bikes, that also means some products are selling better than ever, as well as some products we love are out of stock and difficult to get. These are not only our most sold products for October, but also products that at the time of this article are still in stock. If you want them, get them fast as who knows how long until some products come back into stock.
The SRAM Eagle AXS Hand Rocker Paddle is a new upgrade kit for your SRAM AXS Shifter. It’s designed to have a slightly better ergonomic feel over the original. AXS is a top level product and while it's less common to be on bikes, within the first few days that this new rocker paddle upgrade kit was released, we sold a few hundred, so it's not as rare as you think. One of the comments I had for AXS was how different it was from a traditional shifter; the learning curve is somewhat steep and using SRAM AXS takes some time to get comfortable with. This new rocker paddle helps bring the shifting style you are more used to with a mechanical shifter to the electronic AXS shifter. If you already have AXS shifting, this upgrade for $20 is pretty reasonable. It's almost like SRAM wants you to try it out, so maybe you should??
SRAM GX Eagle creates the perfect balance of quality versus price and some would say it's the workhorse of the SRAM drivetrain lineup. This very popular selling rear derailleur is the newest version of the SRAM Eagle extended range ecosystem, capable of being used with the new 10-52t (520%) cassettes, as well as the 10-50t cassettes from previous Eagle drivetrains. I personally choose to use SRAM GX Eagle on my enduro bike as the shift quality is flawless but also I don’t drop an entire paycheck when I smash my rear derailleur into some rocks, something I am much more likely to do on an enduro bike versus my XC/trail bike. Great shifting at a more affordable price, yes and yes please.
What is better than to match up your drivetrain? With the SRAM GX Eagle Trigger Shifter you can match your GX Eagle rear derailleur from above. It might be the OCD bike geek in me, but I do love when parts match and flow throughout a bike build. The same GX ethos goes into the GX Eagle shifter. You get an amazing price to quality ratio and at only $45 you will have crisp shifting for years to come. This is, in fact, the newest version of the SRAM GX Eagle, but really the only thing that changes on the shifter is the graphics so it’s matched to your new rear derailleur. But if you are replacing your current GX Shifter, this will work with the first generation GX Eagle as well.
While talking about the new SRAM Eagle drivetrain with the new 10-52t cassettes, this is a very handy and necessary tool in order to set up your drivetrain. With the wide range of SRAM Eagle, the B-tension adjustment is a crucial part of shifting setup, and without it being spot on you will not be getting the complete shifting potential that SRAM Eagle is designed around. When using this tool, check out the SRAM video on how to use it. It works a bit differently than the previous version and the quick video helps get you going.
As that thing called darkness creeps up earlier and earlier this time of year, some of us still need to ride after work. Getting a solid light setup is key to having a great night ride. The NiteRider Lumina Micro 900 makes for a great light to use as it’s bright and lightweight. You can use the Lumina Micro 900 as either a handlebar or helmet mount as needed. I personally use both a helmet and handlebar mount when going out for a night ride as you get the best of both worlds when trying to see in the dark. We have a great video explaining this and why you want both as well as some other great light options. Each year, lights get smaller with more lumens, so if you’re in the market always look for the newest version, just like this NiteRider Lumina Micro 900. A few years ago a light this size would have maybe 500-600 lumens. At 900 lumens, there is certainly enough light to still crush a trail.
Title Mountain Bike is a new component brand started by the slopestyle expert Brett Rheeder. While being teased on pro riders’ bikes for a while now, Title finally dropped its full line and we will be carrying some of the more popular mountain bike products they make. They have a focus on extremely strong parts made for aggressive riding styles like slopestyle, freeriding, enduro and downhill. Title parts also look pretty damn good. The first stem I received blew me away, and that was just with the packaging. Just looking at the overall details of the product, you know right away they took their time to make sure you get a premium product. I would compare this to opening up an Apple product. It’s just like how the iPhone comes in a sleek minimalist package, yet at the same time it’s so simplistic and elegant you know it's a premium product. Same with Title, and we are stoked to be able to offer this to our customers and start seeing them on new custom builds.
For model year 2021, Fox redesigned their amazing dropper post in order to get more travel per overall length to go with the trend of longer dropper posts. With a redesigned saddle mounting system, as well as a new seal collar, most people who were running a 150mm dropper post can now fit the 175mm dropper post. It’s pretty sweet to get more travel on the best, most reliable dropper post on the market. It's no secret that the dropper post reliability across the market isn't the best, but we have to say that Fox tends to sit at the top in this category. Recently we have been selling a lot of the Factory posts as they look amazing when matched to your fork and shock that are also Factory Kashima coated. Fox also makes this in the all black Performance version if that is more your style.
Who doesn't like new, fresh, soft, socks? I'm pretty sure everyone, and that is why we always have some Worldwide Cyclery branded socks available. Not only are these socks soft, but they are also a bit thicker and are great for mountain biking and hiking. When rocks and debris get into your shoes, a thin sock can be incredibly uncomfortable. These socks help you ignore those little rocks in your shoes and keep riding with a smile on your face. There is also the extremely proven fact that you will look way better than all of your riding buddies with these socks, and I always say if you can't be fast, look fast.
Did you know that we recently bought KETL MTN? I think by now you have heard that and if you haven't, welcome to 2020 and the top mountain biking news that we own an apparel brand. One thing that KETL MTN has is an amazing lineup of Women's clothing, with details, fit, and features that are specific to the ladies. We like to think it's some of the best on the market. Some of the features that our women customers like are how the bibs fit as well as the unique feature for bathroom breaks while riding without having to take off too much clothing. While I am not a female, I have been in the middle of a ride with gals that need to use the bathroom but either do not have a good spot, or don’t want to go through the hassle of removing pieces of clothing to simply take a bathroom break. Other amazing products are our shorts, with two styles to choose from, also with fit and cut specific to women as well as our selection of jerseys and tops. Take a look! Oh, and our colors are all neutral, not overly girly and take hints from the earth's natural color pallet, so you won’t look like you are wearing pajamas while riding bikes during the day.
Remember when we said we were leaving the bike industry to start our new line of Cutlery and Kazoos? Well we didn't leave the bike industry (you’re welcome), but we did make some amazing products to nourish your body as well as keep you and your buddies entertained. With our line of Cutlery, and our top product the flagship spork SUS-304, you can slurp, poke, bite and deliver tasty nutrients into your body. On the other side you can also open your favorite liquid beverage to wash down all that food you just ate. Our Kazoos are another work of art, with a carefully designed sound, you can now make dirt bike noises, create songs to serenade animals, and entertain your next dinner party with just a single Kazoo. With plenty of colors to choose from including my favorite, the Smelted Gold, it can match with your flashy bike as well.
Do you ever want a bike that is different from anything you see on a normal weekend at your local trails? Something rare, unique and even custom painted? Now is your chance to get exactly that with a custom Unno Dash that has been Jeff’s personal bike for the last few months. Unno bikes are some of the most rare and unique bikes available, on top of that, slap on a custom paint job and you can be sure to have something you can't buy at any local shop. With parts like SRAM Eagle drivetrain, RockShox Pike suspension and custom Industry 9 Trail 270 24h wheels, this bike is a work of art. It was professionally built and maintained by Worldwide Cyclery mechanics. If you know Jeff, you would know how particular he is about his bike maintenance, so his lightly used bikes are typically better than some new bikes. Give us a shout through our contact page if you are interested in buying this unique custom build. It's what we call a dream bike.
