It's the year of working on bikes at home and what better way to do that than buying some fresh new tools. As a complete tool nerd myself, I love new tools and the Park Tool AK-5 advanced tool kit is a great place to start. You get allen l-keys, screw drivers, chain tools, cable tools, spoke tools and cleaning tools. It's a great kit to start doing your own home maintenance. Another kit that has been selling great for us is the PK-5. A more comprehensive home maintenance tool kit and while it retails at $869.95, if you are serious about working on your bike you might want to check out the Park Tool PK-5 kit.
While talking about working on your bike, if you have ever tried a serious part installation or just cleaning your bike without a repair stand, it might make you swear like a sailor. With the Park Tool PCS-10.2 repair stand, you get a solid repair stand that can also fold up and get out of your way when not in use. I have one of these at home and use it for everything from cleaning and lubing my chain to monthly maintenance. Do your back a favor and get a repair stand.
The Race Face Chester handlebar is a great alloy handlebar that comes in a bunch of different spec models, the most popular right now is the 31.8 x 740mm handlebar with a 1” rise. There is also a 35mm clamp model that comes in a 10mm, 20mm and 35mm rise options as well. For only $45.99, the Race Face Chester handlebar is a great bar if you need a replacement bar or want to change the rise of your current bar without jumping into the carbon price point.
The world of tire inserts and protection has blown up (pun intended) over the last few years. Recently, Tannus released a new tire insert, this time without a tube as their previous version had. This tire insert weighs 150g with 20mm of protection. It's also supposed to be easier to install than other inserts on the market. At only $50 it does not need a special valve. The value seems to be there and our customers are buying them up!
Who thinks they have too many socks? Nobody ever. Socks are great and especially pairs with Worldwide Cyclery logos on them like both of our new socks. For our new sock we changed it up a bit. We went with a performance fit to compliment our sister brand Ketl MTN socks that are a bit thicker. We also have two designs to choose from, a classic Worldwide Cyclery look with our globe logo and some blue mixed in there, a small embroidered logo on the back, as well as a more stealth option with just some grey striped and a very low key embroidered logo on each side of the sock. So stand out or stay stealth, the choice is yours. These super comfortable socks are made from 97% Nylon & 3& Spandex and rock an 8” cuff, sounds tall but after a wash or two they sit right in that sweet spot instead of after a few washed you feel like you are wearing your little siblings socks. Oh and they are only $17.95 with free shipping!
We love our jerseys and that is why we are always coming up with new designs. Our classic long sleeve jersey is a clean and simple look, not too over the top but still has that “pro” vibe. Made by our friends at WHTLBL customs, the jersey is 100% polyester and will make your confidence go through the roof! While we can’t say it will make you faster, if you can't be fast look fast.
Something that is new to the industry but starting to catch on is the use of SRAM Universal Derailleur Hangers, or UDH. Previously, all der hangers for each brand have had different hanger options. SRAM came out with an amazing idea to reduce these annoyances, not only to help reduce the SKU’s needed for shops, but you can easily find a hanger around the country if your bike uses a SRAM UDH. While only a few brands and models are using the UDH, I would guess in the next 1-5 years maybe 50% of new bike models coming out will have SRAM UDH. And for only $15, it's cheaper than most hanger options out there as well. Big props to SRAM for getting that figured out and hopefully more brands start to use this.
The Maxxis Assegai tire is one of Maxxis’s newest aggressive tread patterns.Designed by Greg Minnaar himself, this tire is made to get the most grip possible. Made for all mountain, enduro, and dh riding, the Assegai comes in many casings and rubber compounds. For this month our top selling spec is the 29” x 2.5 EXO+ model, a great front tire for an all mountain or enduro bike. We have a full review on the Assegai as well, so if you want to learn more go check that out!
The SRAM rear derailleur chain gap tool is a must have if you are running SRAM Eagle. This new tool works for any Eagle combination you have, from mechanical 10-50t, to AXS 10-52t and whatever else you can make. This easily and quickly helps you set your b-tension which is often a problem we see with SRAM Eagle drivetrains. Do your shifting a favor and grab this tool for $9.49 with free shipping and get your Eagle adjusted properly!
