The SRAM NX 11-speed drivetrain has been a critical upgrade for many riders looking to upgrade their 1x bicycle without breaking the bank! A friend of the shop, Joshua wrote a sweet review on his NX 11-speed shifter and derailleur for your pleasure, check it out!
As a self-proclaimed roadie (both paved and gravel) and a bit of a retro-grouch, when it comes to mountain bikes (think thumb shifters on my 3x9) I was at a bit of a loss when it came to ordering shifty bits for my new mountain bike frame.
I was looking for an inexpensive option to build a bike that could at least keep up with the other slow kids on the trails in Cuyuna. I ordered this Sram NX 1x11 shifter, chain, and rear derailleur because a friend has a spare cassette that he gave me as motivation to upgrade.
I am so blown away by the quality of this set. This is supposed to be SRAM's entry-level group and the shifts are crisp and fast. There is very little chain noise over the cassette. Sure it is heavier than the other sets but I'm heavier than the other riders so I try not to judge.
Now for my biggest complaint. I should have ordered a better chain. This one did well for about the first 20ish hours, until I decided to shift (under load) 3 rings up the cassette blowing apart my chain. Completely my fault but I have done that on climbs with other bikes (and better chains) and not broken them.
Going with the SRAM NX 11 speed shifter and rear derailleur is definitely a safe bet for a reliable 11-speed setup. Overall, I would buy this group set again and have been really happy with it.
