The RockShox Pike Ultimate is a fan favorite due to its reliability and versatility. It can handle your cross country and light trail needs, while also being a great fork for the bike park or DH trails. Just ask our customer Michael. He added the Pike to his Ibis and is loving it. The RockShox Pike Ultimate Suspension Fork 29", 140mm DebonAir, Charger2.1 RC2 Damper, 15 x 110mm, 42mm Offset, Gloss is pretty sweet to look at let alone rip on. This combo with the Ibis Ripley is just amazing. Climb all day and it eats up all that I have thrown at it so far.
I have a Fox 36, 34, RockShox Lyrik, and now the Pike, and really they are all great. They all do the little things better than each other but I can't really complain about any of these forks. I really do like the color options that RockShox is giving you though with the Pike and Lyrik. We will see how it is after it is dialed, maybe it will be my favorite out of them all.
Setup was pretty easy with their recommended settings. The fork is still a little new to me but I need to get it on a good test loop and mess with it more to get it completely dialed. But so far I would say it’s not far off for me with RockShox recommendations. I would like to add some volume spacers as well. It might be interesting to pair this with the MRP ramp controller and see how well you could dial it in.
It has been a while since I’ve been on a Pike and this one feels solid just like the Trek remedy that I had years ago. This fork definitely has a better feeling throughout all of its travel. Stiffness is not an issue with this fork, it has kept me in perfect control. I don’t really hit big doubles or gaps, but the jumps that I have hit feel buttery smooth and this fork keeps it composure for what I do. Cornering feels great, it tracks the dirt every bit as well as my other forks. I keep this fork in the open setting there is no need to stiffen it up with it being paired with the ibis.
In conclusion, the RockShox Pike Ultimate Suspension Fork has been nothing short of amazing every time I have had the pleasure of taking it out. I understand people will complain about the price but try this fork some time and then make up your mind. I don’t like just sticking with the same brand and enjoy trying new suspension to see what best fits my needs. This fork has been worth the money and I would recommend it. Especially if someone paired with the new color Rascal I think would look outstanding.
