ladies and gentlemen welcome to episode 151 of the MTB podcast presented and
hosted by worldwide cycy Trail 1 components and Kettle Mountain I am Jared I'm Liam and I Trevor and welcome
back we know it's been a little bit of a gosh couple week maybe a month Hiatus or something like that it's been a little
while uh those of you tuning in on YouTube we have a new podcast cast studio for you so enjoy take it all in
our beautiful faces this beautiful room and in this episode we are going to
discuss a couple of sweet new bikes that we've recently built up some epic rides that we've been going on lately on those
bikes plus some classic listener questions ranging from which brakes to put on a short travel bike to which big
box bike to get in everything in between I'm just laughing uh for no reason Liam
isn't that hilarious we took out one in the break out one of the questions so that's hilarious Zach's words of wisdom
the harder you work the more luck will come in your life facts you agree with that I agree if you set yourself up for
Success things uh thing good things come that's right some would say you towards you create your own luck yeah that's
kind of I guess where you're going with that huh 100% yeah Daniel's fun facts the amican the amican the American white
pelican can hold up to three gallons of water in its mouth
wow it's a lot of water wow that's a lot of water that's a
lot of water fantastic testimonials this is from the kettle
Mountain egg cradle boxer brief page this is a review from that page these
are the boxers I've been waiting my entire life for finally I can wear boxers that won't ride up on me when
doing karate sick what belt are you uh you would hope at least a brown belt
what's the colors blue red brown black purple is in there somewhere too yeah
maybe yellow as well you start with white dang I know that okay and then you
go uh darker from there I don't know that's that's not how it really works
yeah the new Kettle Kettle boxers have like a have a little lip on the edge of them so they don't ride up and to me
it's a gripper G it's a leg gripper not technically boxers either they're I get boxer briefs pretty close to our they're
like a box a brief version of the bib short kind of with the same leg gripper
but that's like a pet peeve of mine when they ride up like that I I can't deal with that and um yeah I'm excited to try
those yeah 100% they are super good I actually have been awaiting my entire life for these briefs as well and I
eradicated the rest of my boxers to replace them with these what do you think about that
Lam you don't wear you don't wear underwear no just air air in my dirty laundry but uh so to speak I own two or
three pairs of boxers like for special occasions like the doctor's
office I just I I just think it's rude just to be butt naked in there if you're
having something going on you know you need a little barrier they're still going to pull him down you want to
surprise them you know yeah yeah yeah so you know that's awesome oh my God and
and I have some they're more like work they're kind of like these but phone Pockets which I think will be our second
boxer we'll have like a a a phone side pocket maybe uh and that's what I used
to like run in nice yeah that would be nice I honestly don't like running either when I have to carry my phone on
me the whole time it's the worst it's super frustrating so that'd be cool to have a little side pocket in yeah and it
doesn't bounce cuz it's literally stuck to your leg it's like five box of breef but um yeah so maybe six pairs of boxes
in my life Wow the kettle ones are nice though I told Jeff though he asked me today if I had boxes on to try on imp pair of kettle shorts it's like n and I
was like well how about you just give me a pair of kettle boxes that'll keep in my cabinet yeah and I can just always
have boxers here to try on pants when you want me to there you go what' he say about that I don't think he answered me
yeah yeah I mean that's what I do but sometimes you put them on you wear them you wear them home did you supply your
first boxers yeah no I had to supply my own personally which is a you know big ask yeah um but you know got to do what
you got to do um speaking of which big asks uh tell me about this bike ride you
guys did this trans Santa Ana so Liam and I and a couple other friends did uh
yeah this ride called the trans Santa Ana out in the Corona and it made its way into the OC kind of area kind of
near Lake Forest yeah close to that nice and uh through just that mountain range there and the idea is to do a couple big
descents we were all wring it blind like a typical trans style kind of race like
fully blind fully blind like had never ridden in that area before and I mean
most of the people who were riding there had written that stuff before but our little group in particular hadn't written any of it so that was cool and
yeah the idea was just to do kind of the biggest day you could they had three different routes for different uh
mileage and elevation gain and um Liam and Tidman set off to do the the highest
the highest a route which was ended being 10 half th000 ft oh my I believe
in what 45 miles or so 47 miles 47 miles I originally was planning on doing the C
route which was the easy route I'm like oh that sounds fun like which was still 30 mil and 6,500 yeah I said I was I
told myself I can do that that seems fun yeah and then we get on to doing the
ride and there's a there's a third Trail we were going to do I was like well I might as well do the third Trail which
is the B Loop um and yeah we did some cool drops some some of the steepest
Trails I've ever ridden in my life some like it just keeps on going steeper and then steeper to the point where you're
like kind of squeezing your brakes as hard as you can and and you're just hang hanging off the back of your bike and they're Loose as hell so like loose baby
heads um I I put on a semi- slick Tire the uh Michelin rear rear Enduro Tire
just because I knew we were going to be doing a huge pedal day and it worked
kind of a mistake cuz yeah the trails were really steep you need as much grip as you can yeah um but it definitely
kept me going throughout the day yeah the trolls were super cool um on The Descent back into Corona I ended up
missing the turn and uh I was supposed to turn right immediately but immediately immediately and I was off
the Fire Road right and I missed it too but I realized I missed it yeah I kept on going straight and of course I don't
know where I'm going it's all blind and it was in the fog too so I couldn't really tell where people were dropping into as well oh damn it was kind of a
foggy Misty day and I ended up going down this fire break super steep Trail
down the whole entire mountain and halfway through it I'm halfway through it I'm realizing this is not the right
didn't didn't you say you sprinted a climb on it too I sprinted like probably a 20 20 30 second climb I'm like like I
mean we're racing right it was it was a strawber race is what it was they were timing the descents and there was a what
five five or six descents five descents wow and uh yeah so I got to the bottom no one was there and uh they all the all
the guys probably thought I was crashed out the hill cuz I didn't I I didn't show up at the bottom of the hill with all the boys I was by myself and of
course there's no service no one knew that I was doing that and yeah I I kind
of lost my morale after that and went back to Liam's van and just hung out watched some Supercross and they then
they kept on going and did the final Loop which got them to do the full ride which pretty wow which is still 2 and 1
12K climb after that to I'd say I'd say out of the for we did if you look at the
transa trail like stage I guess one through four sick I'll go back down
there and do that again which is still 8,000 foot day on I'd like to do that again yeah so still 8K day on auro bike
like big long climbs but nothing's too gnarly too steep like is manageable um
stage one was roughly 12 minutes which is long downhill it's like a I think
close to almost a 3,000ft drop May 500 foot drop yeah um and that one that was
the one that was like you ride in ridg line pretty good mostly intuitive flowy and then all
of a sudden like the end just like steeper steeper steeper steeper to like the last 100 yards is some of the
steepest trail you can ride basically yeah it just drops off the face of the Earth drops off we kind of knew that it
was going to be that way cuz there was a little course preview um GoPro footage that we could watch but you can't really tell depth and steepness on a GoPro at
all and so we kind of knew it was coming kind of in the back your mind the whole time until you get to it and you're like
oh we're in it now yeah um so that was interesting one of those things were like uh I was pretty
cautious uh because it's one of those things where like you drop into something that steep you're committed to
the speed you started with you're not going to slow down more than the speed you kind of are going in the Steep
section cuz there's no traction so you're just kind of surfing on top of this so like if you're going too fast
and and there's a tight Corner which on stage two there was a super it was like m steep in near the very end to like a
90 plus almost over 90 degree left turn off camber with just tons of cactus on
the spot where if you overblow it it's just caed and in the course preview the guy he was going very fast down this
hill and he ended up crashing and I don't know if he went hit the cactus or not but he crashed over the hill and
like right next Cactus and it just wouldn't be very fun is there even catch burm or anything like oh my God no the
only tombstone in the trail that you missed is sick and that had some really good catch perms that was I think my
favorite show of the day which is like sucks cuz Trevor missed that that was so BM so what you how did you even get back
did you just like the bottom they went my the trail the ridgel line that I did went further down pretty much near the
cars and the trail that Liam and the other guys did um went further up the canyon into this Canyon they had to go
kind of ride a canyon trail out okay um but yeah there was no service I got a little poison up from that TR thing end
of that run out of the didn't get any poison oak no I was wearing long sleeves
long pants so chills were overgrown handguards yeah but wow it was a sick day really stoked it was fun it was cool
to do something like that just kind of the I don't know do the biggest day you can right just set setting out they like
this is going to be the biggest day I've ever done on a bike or a mountain bike at least yeah yeah is the biggest day I've done on an Enduro bike I've done
bigger on XC and road but not an Enduro bike and I was riding a forbidden Druid V2 um which was I think kind of the
perfect tool for the job 130 50 travel yeah um liaz on his Frameworks they just built up I was going to say it's a
perfect segue into what bike you just built up yeah Frameworks you haven't talked about that
yet huh Frameworks in Duro got my Frameworks in Duro build so I was on
that for this day with I've so I've got a couple different setups for it I've got like a full I'd say like lightweight
Enduro build so it's like Fox 36 float x 160 160 and that's what you use race
that's what I used for the trans Anna nice um race quote unquote stra race
straa race I wasn't I didn't really try to push the downs I was just trying to survive that day um and then yeah I had
on like a light slightly lighter weight uh wheel setup and tire setup still had
like EXO plus double down but yeah it was awesome like that that bike is really really impressive it's
just intuitive to ride easy to work on um geometry spot
on uh yeah it's just just bomb proof yeah it's not you know some bikes it has
you have like a big learning curve like the Druid you kind of have a big learning curve with a high pivot getting used to stuff and this bike like second
or third ride I'm like yeah it's I don't know what other clickers to move to make it dialed like I feel I feel good yeah
just dialed off the bat um so yeah that that was good I've I've put in quite a bit of riding on that bike already I've
got I don't know 100 plus miles on it and like all proper Enduro riding on it
so sick usually you don't do that big of days on Enduro bikes like 12 12 miles is like yeah you know 4K of you just got to
you just got to go go climb it slow just chill yeah and but it's got a really upright sear position the um so that
helps with pedal Bob I think I on that whole 10,500 foot day I locked it out
for the very last climb and that was only because I was pretty tired and like laboring my body at that point like of
bobbing and out of the saddle a bit more uh my butt hurt actually more than anything on that ride just sitting on
the seat it took seven and a half hours that's a long day in the sad man anything over 5 hours is rough 7 and a
half moving 9 and a half the laps time wow so you're out there all day you say 9 and a half n and a half lap it was a
big old day wow that is all day so but yeah I locked down on the last climb and
that was only because I was like not pedaling correctly as like pedaling squares and bobbing and stuff you know but uh yeah it's awesome um I've got a
little little pick on worldwide of the build I have I have the pick of the more beefy build so that's a Zeb and a push
rear shock and a beefy like downhill tires and wheels so yeah um yeah that's
pretty sick maybe we'll you know what I thought we should do is we should start putting photos up on the podcast video
when we're talking about the bikes you're getting I thought that would be I mean that's pretty highly technical I don't know if that's something we can
pull off but check with our editors you know uh that would could be cool for those uh for the listeners and viewers
out there aren't you the editor now well I did edit the last podcast so we'll see if that's a lift that I can manage uh
speaking of of bikes your Frameworks was
is so sick the day you built it up that it triggered me to build up an endo bike
as well yeah what'd you get well I built up a it's it's so funny you ask
Trevor I built a Yeti SB 165 that is the new one with the 29in front wheel 275 re
MX MX as they say um with a fox 38 and a
dhx2 trail one cockpit some mavens the DT Swiss
Wheels X1 mechanical drivetrain nice and the new Fox Neo dropper post whoa I know
it's kind of crazy I don't know mechanical drive train Fox
electronic dropper post yeah I know
how how's the mullet you kind of growing one yourself a little bit a little bit I actually love the mullet um I haven't
had a mullet bike in a couple years last one I did was that my previous s165 I had built up as a mullet for a little
bit but it wasn't meant for it that was like kind of a mocktail huh it was and so now I'm like it's really actually
quite fun to ride the bike like as it was designed it feels a lot better like it's yeah it's very fun um it's
definitely like I'm still getting used to riding a big bike again like that I mean I've been riding my s140 a lot
still just to kind of get miles in for uh you know for these trips and stuff but I'm still whipping that sp65 around
and it's a good time yeah um my first ride I literally dropped into the first trail and I got a snake bite flat
tire literally 5 seconds into my first downhill on the front wow on that first rock garden on Spectrum oh that's that's
that's your rock G my rock how many wheels and tires have you destroyed I have a line that I like and there just
is a sharp Rock in there somewhere maybe line I that I rode that trail yesterday
morning oh did you I was thinking about you the whole time I love that trail yeah you just fun you just have to chill
but you really like even if you're chilling there's some sections where you're just going really fast and you're
just hitting stuff and yeah you kind of need a Kush cor for that trail we put a we we built up a Crest line um demo bike
for the shop and been riding that a little bit and we put a aluminum wheel set downhill casing tires and a Kush and
a Kush and aush and it's exactly what it needs that's exactly what it needs and it's like so it's so much better because
you don't really have to worry and you can kind of feel it hitting the cush cord and you're like okay we're good yeah you know yeah uh you know for those
who don't know I rode the crest line when we first got it on that trail and I didn't know it had tubes in it had tubes
and Enduro tires which and Enduro tires so it was like asking for and Jared was sending and I was sending it for the
video and what do you know I blew up wheel so it is what it is yeah that that trail
has my number it does um but it's so fun I think we've all blown up wheels in that trail I I blown up a wheel same
thing like 30 seconds in brand new wheel set I was testing boom double flatted
and like dented that Rim so much I maybe wrote it after I can't remember
alloy yeah the couple those Rock Gardens they mean business on that trail they too especially okay well it's not the
rock garden but that steep section after the first rock garden what I'm talking about one of my favorite you just like
you're just hitting stuff so fast that it doesn't even you don't even know what you're hitting yeah when I hit it when I wrote it yesterday morning it was all in
the shade so it was all kind of just like dark and black to me I was just hitting stuff and I I knew that yeah if
I didn't have Kush Cor in there wouldn't have been good oh so fun that's why you
get security on your bike it is with downhill tires and some some inserts you know I know yeah you know maybe double
down front tire is in my future who knows speaking of uh wheels that should go in the trash what did you find in the
trash that is a great segue Trev you're learning that's good um this is a crazy
story I thought that would be just very entertaining to have on the podcast so I was taking out the trash last weekend
and what do you know I open up the lid to the dumpster and there is a full carbon road bike in there with Shimano
di2 altegra carbon wheels I was like what the hell is going on
here I think that's f is that first gen di2 is it 2 X10 or 2 x 11 it was 2 by 11
it's first gen though it's first gen yeah those hoods are first gen but it's uh yeah first gen 1 by 11 I think
there's two generations yeah so I like right off the bat I was like I
don't know I should pull this out and then the other side of me was like no you got plenty of bik crap like it's just leave it and then you know what I
was like okay I went back after my neighbor was like you see that bike in there it's all carbon and everything and I was like
yeah I saw that and he was like you should you should pull that out I mean you know stuff about bikes I mean I was
like okay I think you know you're right you're right I should go pull that out of the dumpster so I go and pull it out of the dumpster and like it looks like
the guy maybe had it um you know on top of his car and looks like he smashed into the like roof of a garage because
the hoods are scraped and like the top of the carbon steer tube is like smashed
um so I cut the smashed part off of the steer tube put the stem on there and it's like good as new I charged up the
di2 ships beautifully it's insane crazy it's I mean it still boggles my mind
throw away it's in the trash I know it was going to go to the dumpster and you can't recycle carbon so so I did a good
thing you did you did a favor essentially it that way there you go I
mean just n plus one dude it was so neglected so I got pulled it out like
washed it up I mean and I was like dude this is actually a pretty clean bike I
think the person just didn't though they weren't you know cycling Savvy right they probably just had it as a casual
road bike and I was like this is this at one point was a very nice bike yeah um I mean to be fair the top of the fork was
cracked right but me you trim that off and it's good 100% rest of the components are in really good shape yeah
the wheels the wheels aren't bent or broken perfect the drivetrain isn't bad
charges up like yeah run it that's what I'm talking about I'm glad I got some support here I feel like I'm like a AA
for bikes and you guys are my sponsors the wrong guys to talk to about
that yeah it's it's kind of like the opposite of AA it's like giving into it
nah bro just keep going yeah get another one yeah what're about the dirt jum talk I see stuff in my trash all the time and
I'm like what like that looks pretty nice like I found I had two bar stools in my house yeah and I walked out to
dumpster one day and I was like that looks exactly like the bar St I have in my house and I grabbed it and it was
clean no stains no nothing it needed one little bolt that I found in my garage
and I brought it up the exact match no way of the bar stools that I have so instead of two now I have three way what
yeah party and yeah in my my dumpster and I think Bria found those uh bar stools on like offer uper Craigslist the
originally so like I don't know where they came from but like now we got three I don't have a dining room table so it's
like really nice to yeah that is nice it truly speaks volumes to saying that one
man's trash is another man's treasure ABS I mean this guy literally threw a at one point probably $5,000 road bike in
the dumpster just like yeah it's got It's got Parts on it just chucked it I mean that's crazy I mean I have I have
picked less valuable stuff out of our dumpster and questioned it right like
tires from Jeff or like stuff that you're considering like oh should I throw away this grip like surely there's a few more rides left in it or like this
tire and this guy's just like yeah this bike that's crazy I know some people just live a different life I guess than
we do mhm well should we talk about one more new bike oh yeah yeah that's a great idea all right the new Banshee
anomaly hard tail came out yeah the anomaly it's pretty sick yeah so it's a
more slightly more XC focused hard tail from Banshee cuz the other one was more of like a Do-it all kind of slack hard
tail yeah exactly so this one's a little more XC it still has a very wide range of fork options that hard Tails can run
so they say everything from a 100 Mil to a 150 okay um I think it's best suited in the 120 13 range um yeah they sent us
uh two frames beforehand so we had one built up and you rote it I wrote it we have some uh images of it and yeah it's
pretty sweet it's got more more mounting options uh bottles and accessories on
the bike than the other hard Tales have so little bike packing little little bike pack little Adventure uh bike good
Geo um I I think banshee's alloy frames are beautiful like they're cool they're
very well done this one's kind of like a raw finish too and I feel like if you were to go kind of the bike packing route it'd be cool cuz you don't have to
really care about it getting scratched up or scuffed it might even look cooler if it's like that totally yeah their
their old raw was like clear raw so you could still scratch it and you can still
see the scratches it looks awesome but it does show the wear where this one's actually raw raw like raw alloy which
just some decals put on it so you scratch it you take a little Scotch Sprite to it good yeah back to New I
like that um and like it'll it'll get some like a patina to it you know and like um I always thought it was cool I
had this old road bike that was matte but I rode it so much I had put like 20,000 miles on in like two years wow
that where my legs would rub on the top tube became polished sick so it's kind of like Matt with this little polished
area so just builds character character I think this one will do the yeah good Geo and and like yeah like I
was saying their their alloy is all Hydra formed 7,000 series aluminum which to my
knowledge I don't maybe lightville does something like that it's super small brand out of Europe but uh no one really
does like high-end hydraform 7,000 series aluminum they're all doing like a 6,000 straight tubes so yeah it's pretty
cool super cool I love what banshee's doing banshee's Aller bikes are a bit more affordable but the hard tailes are
definitely yeah more more affordable than most it's a good investment if you want a hard tail and you don't want to
commit to buying a fancy expensive carbon bike then that's like kind of the ticket right there totally MH especially
if you're going to beat on it too like I can't remember what I had my built up as I did a rigid build and then a
suspension build but they're both like very reasonable like 20 21 pounds or something like wow yeah well you guys
quit talking about it before I build one I know that this is pretty sweet bike yeah it would be cool to a bike packing
rig it would be feel like that would be the one that would be pretty sick yeah yeah I mean I that L I had was pretty
rad I miss it sometimes but I also sometimes don't miss riding a hard Hil on on bumpy Trails you know yeah full
suspension is kind of nice I don't know you some people can have their cake and they can eat it too you know mhm I don't
know I just have them all you just have them all hard tail short travel long travel do you still have a hard tail mhm
that Richie mhm oh my God I thought you were getting ready
that mm no oh well I guess I don't know anything no I'm my fleet is perfect
amount of range yeah you're pretty dialed in yeah speaking of fleets should we take this first listener question
before a break yep how do you worldwide Cyclery gang I've narrowed my next bike down to the yeti s120 lunch ride and the
Ibis Ripley V5 my local bike shop carries both and is offering me a solid deal I'm 63225 and typically on an XL
frame I ride mostly for Fun and Fitness on undulating techy Terrain in north Texas with a couple of trips a year to bigger
elevation I might do an XC Enduro or endurance race once or twice a year but just for fun currently on a YT ISO 28 is
pounds XL I love its snappiness and Progressive Suspension but wouldn't mind a little more oomph without sacrificing
efficiency carrying speed is important to me Demo options are limited so any insights the bikee will have to last me
much longer than my previous ones considering a growing family huh congratulations more watts less gravity
than I'd like earning my descents all 20 ft of them nice well I think uh I mean I think I
know what you're going to say well let's just let's just say this because uh Zach
who is uh one of the best people worldwide cycler he loves his SP sp120
any similar Dimensions similar Dimensions I was going to say and on an XL frame and um he just uh built up a
new one and put some pretty fast tires on it and pretty nice wheels and good
brakes good brakes m and that thing is just like a nice little sharp knife it's awesome we should have we he should have
bought Zach's last bike that would have been yeah well he said he said his local
bike Shop's hooking up that's true his local bike shop is hooking up that's true but yeah I mean I also have a sp120 currently I have two Wheel sets for it
same with Zach so I've got kind of the XC setup and a little light Trail setup and to me it's such a
rad bike platform that like can go either way you can go lightweight with like Recons I just did you you know a
pretty Solid 4 and a half hour XC ride on the weekend on it and I can also go trail tires and we're riding janky Grand
Junction on it the other week um yeah which you know I can kind of do both I
don't have time on the new Ripley but I've ridden the previous riple a bit um
and it uh DWI feels really good um I
don't I can't vouge to the the V5 um as far as like durability go and
ride fuel um but I would try to look at some of the reviews of that as well and see if it is as good as the V4 um I've
heard kind of mixed reviews on it but again that's not my own Impressions that's just what I've seen yeah um but
yeah I mean with that being said I don't think you can go wrong with the sp120 lunch ride especially the lunch ride
it's it the 120 lunch ride's cool too because it is based off of more of a trail SL Enduro platform still has the
switch Infinity link um it's still like a Yeti at heart so I think if you're if
you're like you're saying going to do XE Enduro or endurance races once or twice a year it's kind of the do- it all for
that kind of stuff especially if you're going to be doing like actual XC endurance races then you can kind of
just do everything and and I'll say the frame is really stiff which is one reason why I swapped my ASR to my 120
yeah was to get a stiffer frame to kind of do that light trail riding where I'd say that's probably my favorite type of
riding is like yeah still crushing miles but we're going down some Trails where only a couple years ago you'd probably
prefer to have a 140 bike on that exact and we're still riding out on 120 bikes like full speed so um the frame
stiffness and the the handling of the 120 is really good yeah I got to say I think you guys kind of hit the nail on
the head I mean 120 is really nice like you said you can build it up you can strip it down um I think I've seen
people do similar things with their Ripley the Ripley's in the same exact boat yeah but not maybe quite to the
same extent as a 120 lunch Ride Like the 120 lunch ride might um you know
accommodate those those barlier upgrades like better might suit them better I think yeah and the lunch ride comes with
a Super Deluxe and a pike with 140 off the bat and maybe even come with codes which yeah which is like pretty dial
everything you want it'll let it'll let you do the Enduro race other stuff like you'll be struggling pretty hard in an
Enduro situation but you can still do the XC stuff just change the tires around thr Recons on XC put on some
trail tires good to go mhm yeah and because he's on a YT ISO he wants a little more oomph without
sacrificing efficiency and I feel like that is kind of exactly what he's talking about yeah sweet sweet well I guess with
that said let's hop into a break a word from our sponsor a word from our sponsor
break and now a word from our sponsor do you love riding bikes and eating food
but hate working on your bike and cooking food well introducing the allnew airbed this revolutionary product will
allow you to quickly and easily bed in your brakes and also cook food at the same time order it now on your favorite
e-commerce platform and now back to the show and we're back listener questions
Trevor you want to read that next one I sure can all right I purchased a GX
Eagle AIS derailer from you guys and I love it but I do not love the Pod shifter as I'm more of a fan of a finger
thumb traditional shifter can such a shifter being installed with this application my opposable thumb is not
quite POS posable enough for the provided shifter keep up the excellent work I was out your way to visit a lady
and we hit Santa's village bike park nice ni that's PR be fun um well the answer is yes there is a uh the I don't
know exactly what it's called but the Trigg trigger shifter there's two you can do so he already has a pod yeah so
the cheaper version would be you can get the new rocker set up for the Pod yeah so it
bolts on I don't know how which is like kind of the best option for the Pod correct or you have to go so it's it's
not buying a whole electronic piece you're just buying a plastic piece and
that one is well he got a normal GX access
derailer so it's not a t type derailer yeah do you think he's talking about he's saying he has the Pod shifter so technically the Pod shifter is what
comes with like the T type system um So based off what he says that's what it sounds like he has
yeah um but they have like a like a when the when axis was first released the
first shifter was not very good in my opinion some people love it I personally did not like it and then they came out
with a trigger version which more M mimics the traditional mechanical style Eagle shifter um which I personally love
it just makes sense and it's really easy to use so the the Pod rocker paddle
upgrade is only $22 MH um if you already have the Pod if you already have the Pod if you have the
older shift paddle which is like the bigger unit you can get the older it's
still called a rocker paddle so like don't get confused Eagle AIS rocker paddle or Eagle pod Rock rocker paddle
okay hard to say that one's also $21 and that one mimics a more traditional shifter however I don't see the like OG
shifter as a whole electronic unit on our site anymore oh wow so they don't offer it they offer that anymore not to
go to the old pink bike or Ebay yeah that'll be the OG swam ego
Access Controller yeah um and then the upgrade kit or the upgraded rocker
trigger shifter is what you kind of want yeah and they also have those
weird um danger home type things he uses the zal shifters yeah but you need a oh
you a for that where it's like a how would you even describe that it's like a
like a almost like a light switch in a way it is kind of almost like that but mounts round on your bar and it's like a
light switch oh really I haven't seen that you kind of like go like rocker up like this or back or it's almost like a
oh my gosh it's I don't pay too much attention to Danger home builds um but it's kind of cool because it is a super
Sleek integrated look for axis shifting but like Liam said you do need a blit
box the cool thing like to really answer this question in like a broader sense the cool thing about the whole axis
ecosystem is you can use any kind of shifter to shift the derailer it doesn't
really matter like you can use a red or a yeah red um flat bar mount not flat
bar mount but yeah redder uh Force shifters yeah to to drop bars thank you
to shift Eagle derailer you know like you can do that like that's super cool to me yeah it provides a ton of
customization you can go down some crazy some crazy Pathways oh interesting so you rock that
back and forth it's pretty neat I actually don't mind the Pod I got used to it and T type one yeah like a I think
I think it's all about I mean you do have literal like infinite adjust you can rock it that way and back and forth
and I think getting that in the correct spot for your thumb is really important but once it's there I don't mind it I've
gotten used to it as well first I didn't like it but it's like with anything you got to give it a fair shot and uh yeah
after a couple rides started to like it the ultimate shifter is very nice it's a bit more expensive but the pads on it
are nice and soft yeah they rubber the the non-ultimate version is plastic and yeah doesn't feel as good but works
pretty good still and um yeah I don't have any issues with those either yeah so the you're talking about the ultimate
one where they stick out more yeah there's a there's a convex one which is what they come with and they come with concave as well or sorry concave is what
they come with they there's an option that it comes with to run convex ones which I have tried because I lost one of
those concave shifters it just came off so I was forced to try the other style and didn't like it as much but it's
really kind of nitpicky it doesn't matter too much when you're actually just riding the bike yeah yeah once you get used to it you find it's just
automatic which is one thing I love about access to T type it's like your brain is wired to the drive TR you're like be just yeah and I would we say
just with all AIS I think it's really important to make sure you're Shifting the correct way that works for your
brain yes I just thr the troid in and he likes it the way samam ships it which his argument is tram ships it that way
so that's the correct way but it's very easy to connect your app swap the two cuz I like it swaps the
way it ships so which way is that I like the the button Towards the Sky to shift easier and the button towards the ground
to shift harder oh I like it the other way I agree with Liam really cuz I last time I grabbed a bike from you it was
the other way around yeah I've started to change all the demo bikes to the way cuz I'm tired of hopping on a bike and
and you're shift the wrong way especially on an ebike where I'm shifting like a maniac and I'm just constantly shifting the wrong way I'm
not used to it the nice thing about the ebike is you it doesn't really matter it doesn't just power right through it's
and it's just annoying enough to change the orientation where I just will typically leave it for a ride even if
it's not the one I'm used to you know on a down bike or something I was I was riding like just the hill above the shop and there's a couple little
steep rollers to get through at first shifting like crazy to get through those and the whole time I was Shifting the
wrong way I literally had to get off the bike I was like I'm done I feel you yeah
yeah it is what it is but like you said Liam and or Trevor I forgot who made the point but that is the nice thing about
the access ecosystem is you can kind of tailor it to your preferen pair it with whatever make any button do whatever you
want so it's custom and it's it's super easy to do that yeah it is speaking of
which it's easy to do this if each of you were to buy a stock pre-built mass-produced bike that could not be a
brand any of you have ever ridden before what bike would you guys buy this has to be a one bike do it all love y'all
that's a good question so we're talking pre-built Mass produce what kind of level we're talking
about like just like a t specializ saw YT Canyon that's yeah or or giant
whatever giante um that's what I understood this as you
know one of the big three or or you know or Canyon or YT um well honestly I don't even know if I like really ridden A
specialized I mean I could pick a specialize because he said never ridden before yeah it's one of it's something you haven't ridden before so that's the
the key word I think a stump jumper would be a good option yeah from specialized I think that Canyon spectral
Got High Praise recently yeah that one could be bad would you go Canyon over YT
I would yeah person I'd probably use do like a like a Top
Fuel my next one was going to be a tack uh fuel X Fu x i Fu X yeah Top Fuel is
more the the XC okay I want I want fuel X that's exactly what I looks like a
good bike I think I would go Stumpy Evo is that a thing is just
Stumpy now they kind of been changing it like crazy 15 I I I would either go Canyon spectral or track F ex would be
my two i' bounce between yeah never ridden a track and probably to that point if I'm
buying new as a consumer I'd probably be swayed to go Canyon because it's
probably cheaper yeah you think so yeah consumer direct is probably think we got a question about that down here somewh
yeah we do I feel like I mean I feel like the it's just a race to the bottom these days everybody's just It's just
tough with those I guess we can talk about it later too but it's tough with those when you need service and support
yeah with a with a with a a brand like that sometimes it's good and sometimes it's tough and like the canyon you had
in here the other day that had the the proprietary tool to tighten I was working on a I was working on a a Canyon
road bike and um I was just bleeding the brakes and I noticed the headset was a little bit loose okay I'm going to be
nice guy I'm going to tighten the headset make it make sure the bike's safe I I I need to test ride the bike right yeah and I'm I'm trying to tighten
the headset I'm like nothing's fitting no no tools are fitting in there and i' I look up how to tighten a Canyon Arrow
Road Bike headset and you need a specific tool for it that comes in the
box when you get the when you get the bike and I just thought that was crazy that seems like a safety thing liability
and just like I could not tighten the headset and I had to tell the guy listen your headset's loose I can't tighten it
you have to do that I'm sorry but like or bring a tool and it we'll do it but yeah do or or that I'm like I'm like you
probably have it it probably came in your box but I don't have that so and I'm sure most bike shops don't have it
either you know that's the hard part more and more especially now that I'm like working on bikes less and less more
and more I want my bike to have standard everything standard is a funny word in the bike industry but like normal
headset you know like normal way to tighten it normal bearings yeah no cables that run through the headset uh
my framework says full external brake cables it's so nice mhm like all the hardware on the Frameworks is just beefy
big almost all of it's a six mil Allen for the I just swapped the shock right now it's only a six mil to needed to
swap the shock it's easy um doing a parking lot real quick easy peasy yeah uh and the more and more I'm doing that
the more and more I'm gravitating towards bikes that I'm like okay how's this bike to own how's this bike to work
on you know um no proprietary stuff no proprietary parts seat posts headsets
tools yeah it's just going to it's like sure like it might to some people it might be kind of cool to have that cool
interesting part and that's awesome but at the end of the day you're going to need to do something with that and
you're not going to be able to fix it as fast or efficiently as you could have otherwise and that's a pain well that's
why there's 100 flavors of an Enduro bike right because you can or road bike or whatever it is you can have whatever
you want you want super cool proprietary integrated bike there's an option you
want a bike that has like basically almost Hardware upgraded Hardware from Home Depot that's probably an option you
know like seen him yeah so it's true you want to jump to that consumer direct
brand while we're on it that's a great idea hey guys Mike here from Alberta Canada relatively new to the mountain
bike world but getting obsessed fast recently discovered the Pod and currently binging it love the content and everything about the Pod my question
is what are your thoughts on direct to Consumer Brands I'm feeling torn about it because I would love to support my
local bike shop but as things go trying to save the bank seems like you can't beat the value of direct direct to
Consumer more should specifically would like to know what you guys are thinking of something like a YT jeffc compared to
a Yeti sp140 are these even in the same category thanks a ton
cheers well Mike yeah that's I mean I think at the end of the day for
consumers going to come down to how savvy are you on working on your bike yeah can you contact a company directly
can you get a part if anything happens stuff breaks on bikes no matter the brand whether it's a YT a Yeti or
specializ a track right like you might run an issue where something might break
uh most direct and consumer brands are really good about supporting their consumers however if you need to take it
to a bike shop that's where you start getting sticky of some bike shops will kind of turn
their nose up at you a little bit because of that I don't think it's right we try not to do that here I I know we
definitely don't in our location um we work on whatever but um they are going
to charge you full price we will charge you full price right like if you bought a Yeti from us we might
morei on the of we do free tunes for the life of the bike which sometimes that
just falls into it you have a shifting adjustment Bring It On in we're going to get your shifting good your brakes good
and your headset adjusted yeah that's a great Point that's something I don't even think about honestly so it's that
to me that's where the difference is is like you know uh are you Savvy to work
on it or are you going to rely on a bike shop those costs uh while you might save on the YT at the
beginning you know if you own that bike for two or three years and every time it's $100 to $200 more to work on it
because it's a YT versus a Yeti you might at after three years you might be at the same price or more based on the
repair price that that Shop's going to charge and it's and it's tough like let's say you have like a warranty issue
with with your complete direct consumer brand like yeah sometimes that company
will take care of the customer and it'll be the responsib the bike shop to charge their correct labor and then bill it to
that company and then they'll take care of it but um that's not always the case and sometimes yeah I most bike shops are
probably going to charge full pop for everything that gets touched on the bike you know yeah I mean and that's not even
to say that these bikes are probably very comparable in terms of the on tril
experience right like I think those are actually both relatively similar travel-wise as well so I mean yeah
probably compar I I will say um the quality on the yetis is exceptional for
sure it's kind of it's kind of Next Level I mean I I build those things all day long and I can see just the little
things and like it's so good yeah the quality and the ride feel of a Yeti is
it really is different like you hop on a Yeti like oh yeah I'm riding a Yeti you can almost blindfold no you're on a Yeti
which actually I don't think you can do that with most other brands I think Yeti is in own little zone for that
especially with the SI link too yeah but I will throw in there what I just said the canyon spectral is another great
bike that's direct consumer in the same travel range has really high praise from the most recent version of it so maybe
that's something to look at as well definitely um yeah I think for your local bike shop like do you like the
guys are they cool to you do you want to support them do you want to make sure they have a job yeah I mean it's you
know at at times you can say up a $2,000 and like $22,000 $2,000 like you're not
uh yeah uh you know I I don't I don't think most people will blame you for
saving $2,000 on the bike that has the same drivve chain suspension yeah you know what I mean like yeah that's a lot
of money that's tough um no matter how you you know yeah you never know maybe your local bike shop will have a sale or
or you can tell them hey I'm looking at this and that like i' love to buy from you maybe they'll work with you I don't know M yeah do you have a relationship
with your local shop you know that's yeah to a lot of people that's a pretty important thing thing yeah definitely
something to be said there for all of those points I mean I mean you're right you know if you're especially if you're
in Alberta maybe you don't have a ton of different local bike shops right I mean I have no idea but yeah and hopefully
hopefully they're they're they're cool with you I mean like for our case at worldwide at least in our our store
location like yeah people who buy bikes from us they get hooked up straight up yeah like they get taken care of better
I mean we try to take care of everyone really well but they get uh you know they'll get bumped in line you know
something simple like that or we'll throw on Parts we'll throw we'll throw on Parts uh labor for free or something you know so just take care of the
customer and because you know they they took care of us so goes both ways it's true but yeah like you're just saying we
definitely work on Canyons yts all the time all of it um tons tons of dire
consumer brands are being worked on yeah here so yeah I guess to wrap it all up
it's like how much do you value that access to your local bike shop and like do you value you know that extra $22,000
or whatever it is like of them working on the bike that you bought from them and you know get that warm fuzzy feeling inside which is kind of nice you know
it's it's nice to bring a bike to a shop that you bought it from at the end of the day um sweet I guess we'll we'll
jump back into the let's go little off topic here yeah next question is uh soap or shampoo for your whole body which one
you going with from Casey from Casey he came in here the other day and he asked us this and he said I got a question for
the podcast local Casey it's a hard-hitting question
Liam uh I usually use Dove like a dove bar of soap so I think that's just soap
right that's not shampoo for a whole body I don't have any hair you just go
bottom to top I don't even I don't even put anything in my head so it's easy for you it's so you almost don't count yeah
you almost yeah I don't have any hair so every other week I shave it so that's my
thing of like it's clean yeah um and I run water through it occasionally if I
do like a really gnarly ride I'll use like a little bit of soap or shampoo on my head but um yeah that's fair I'm
pretty pretty minimal on the whole soap thing uh just so I don't smell and I'm clean yeah but try not to use too much
of it yeah Trevor is a tough question I know it is that's why I I would say
probably shampoo cuz I think it might work as good as soap yeah in some cases
and I don't know if I want to put soap in my hair agreed so to be honest I don't know the
difference I think uh I'm gonna have to good yeah I don't know the difference either I got to go shampoo uh I feel
like it would work well in armpit hair yeah chest hair head hair you know I feel like I
have hair like on the rest of my body so why not just go shampoo top down yeah age if Jeff was here uh Jeff doesn't use
either so he would say neither right he's just a warm water guy yeah no no detergents in his body I think unless
he's like really really muddy no even then I asked him I was like what happens when you get a massage he goes to that
oil zombie for like two days I'm like that's too much that's gross actually though the oil on you is probably good
for like a day but that's like in your sheets dude yeah what about the person I got a massage last night and that's
first thing I did was went home and showered yeah really I like soaking it a little bit o kind of moisturized no I
feel like it's good for your skin the oil now yeah sure whatever that's funny awes I I want to ask that question
to Jeff if he does downeyville and camps for 10 days oh is he going to do it no I'm just no I'm just saying like he's a
creek shower I was I we were still we were still washingt in the creek and I was pretty smelly after that after that
trip I'd say I will say at the end of the trip I was a little smelly but that was no soap no shampoo yeah for me in
just in the creek week just just a cold Creek not a warm Creek you know so but you guys were riding ton and you're
stinky yeah stinky 100 deges 100 deges that week that was next level like
that's you're there's no escaping we've gone on trips where it's me Jeff and Jared and me and Jeff will see how long we can go without a real shower and I
just know like I justcome to the ladies and gentlemen yeah Jared showers right away and me and Jeff will be like we're
going to the creek and we just go to the creek take a creek shower yeah you know hit the hit the spots and then there's
like we can make like three four days before I'm like I think in Sun Valley I made it a couple days is and then after
I was like okay like my hair is like nodding and I was like I I need you got long hair it's different yeah you really do man a creek shower makes you feel
alive too it does especially when it's that all right hey guys love the podcast
you guys are probably the most entertaining and informative podcast on the webs wow I have a question for the
whole team keeping in mind mountain biking is my refuge and my life therapy same bro I have a big back surgery
coming up fusing and reaming out vertebrae I'm going to be off the bike for 8 to 12 weeks what would you
recommend doing during that time to keep my sanity and not ruin the fine surgeon's work PS my friend shy says hi
to Bean Bean says hi to Remy what up that's tough 8 to 12 weeks is a decent
amount of time I would say um first thing if you can like rebuild your bike
yeah take it apart Grease the bearings that that might be more on like the sixth at the six week Mark where you're
able to move and put a little torque on your body yeahh the like but yeah I'd agree with that before that I feel like
if you're just watching watching like mountain bike videos and movies and stuff it might just make you want to
ride that yeah that could make it worse make it worse maybe last time I dislocated my shoulder I was like well
what am I going to do yeah I designed my whole van build out like inch per inch there you go I just got sew in the weeds
and I designed it all and then I like labeled it all like IKEA style like all right this piece is a this piece is B I
went I went me had nothing else to do I had nothing else to do yeah and it worked out perfectly too and it was my
last van build and like it was it worked out and epic I spent couple nights just
straight doing that like yeah I was just talking to Zach the other day about how lucky we are to have a hobby like
mountain biking because we all spend our weekends doing it and if I like yeah if
you're injured or you don't have a hobby like that like I don't know what I would do it takes up like my mornings every
single weekend or the whole day or the whole or or the whole day and I love it yeah I know it really is the best like
otherwise you're just kind of hanging around right so um yeah it's it's tough if you're if you're injured or you're
getting a surgery like that yeah um I have been going to some hot yoga classes
I don't know you've been gone but this guy this guy's not doing any hot I know you probably can't do hot yoga but you
might be able to do some light yoga to like stay loose and well I don't I don't
know maybe what that entails I mean if you go to PT definitely do all the PT's
recommendations like you have all the time right you're not you're not riding like's fusing he's fusing and reming out
his vertebrae that sounds like no bending surely he's couch ridden for a little while right but I'm saying like
that would be good rehab like strength training like light the low impact I
mean if I was doing that 8 to 12 weeks or probably buy a PS4 PS5 whatever they are just yell at kids call Call of Duty
call of Dy do the same thing Grand Theft Auto um you know maybe get into a game
you can really sink your teeth into yeah I currently don't own like any kind I used to be big in video games but I
currently don't own any of that because I feel like it's a waste of time but but
if I had if I was forced to be bedridden yeah I'm all it or you know what this
could be fun you could I mean when I have like an like an insane amount of
time I just come up with an insane recipe and just dive in something that'll take me like all day to cook
there you go yeah if you can stand up cooking is a good you can stand up uh you could whip up some mean
meals um so maybe you you know maybe you dive into some Cuisine I don't know so
we got video games uh light yoga maybe maybe
maybe um work on your bike uh plan something else like there you go
trip yeah out a trip your your next bike build Next bike build or something to do with that you
could take a leisurely vacation well like once he's healed you can probably plan a sick bike trip right and have it
all planned out and know the spots even down the restaurant you want to eat at in that town yeah get it dialed that's
true you could really dive into some itinerary there that's awesome well hopefully your
surgery goes well um sorry to hear that but thank you for tuning into the podcast that's that's really awesome
hope your frch she Tunes in as well oh and keep listening to podcast while you're bedridden oh yeah sorry it's our
voices duh keep listening to podcast there you go um how about this next one
Li you want to read that yes hey all love the show y'all have talked about the past about lubing and dusting off a
bike I haven't read in a while got me thinking does Lube expire evaporate or whatever I try to follow Liam's advice
on lubing a chain when I get back from any ride but what what if that doesn't get ridden for a month or more should I
lube it again FYI I'm usually using a dry lube here in Colorado like finish line or muuk off or whatnot thanks John
Denver Colorado I figur it's a Lube question so
that's why I said I think those Lubes might fully dry up like a finish lineer
muck off as squirt wouldn't because it's wax Bas and it's going to stay there
it's like a candle it's like a candle so it's a liquid candle that eventually once it's out of the bottle so that will
not come off I'm not 100% sure but again like if you're if you know you haven't
ridden it in a month or more and you know you're riding tomorrow just go throw another layer of Lube on there yeah like well with squirt sometimes on
big rides I'll put like three or four layers on CU I'm like I I mean the minimal like Watts you're talking about
that might slow me down because I'm over waxed for 30 minutes whatever it breaks
free it breaks free I'm not racing like I'm not I kind of love when you do Lube a chain with a wax Lube like nice and do
a couple layers and go to spin it back and it almost feels like your Hub is not working correctly yeah but then you kind
of break it free and you're like oh this is going to last a while it's going to give me a good coating love so quiet at
first yeah yeah your bik style those oilbased Lubes that you're using a finish liner muck off might evaporate
I'm not positive but just throw another layer on yeah and if you are not riding
a bike for more than a month or two I would say more important than your chain lube is your tire cealing true if you
are tubless that's just check check your tire sealant because more than likely it's dry and you do not want to get a flat out there and also check the
minimum temperature of your tires if you're starting to ride at this shoulder season and you might be riding in you
know he's in Denver exactly 25 degree weather yeah the sealant might not work uh oh yeah there yeah need some cold
weather sealant yeah like on my road bike I am uh Tess on my road bike and I
ride my road bike once in a blue moon like maybe once every month or two and pretty much every time I ride my road
bike I put cealing in it because it's just dry and it's a pain but it's what I've kind of committed to right
now I mean I'm not g to say it doesn't work because it does work but you have to do a little bit more maintenance for
sure and for what it's worth it is better than running tubes on that road like tubes don't belong in bikes my dad
dad is like he is he will die on that hill of like running tubes on his bikes
because I I mean I honestly don't know why but remember last time I got a flat on my road bike honestly get so many
flats because of it and I'm like just run tubless like yeah well the seal it
spray and I mean but can he put 30 or 32s on his current road bike that's back there uh maybe I mean he's got 28s on
there right now get him a 30 GP 5000 yeah TR as tubless run it with orange
seel yeah he'll and and then and then at the end of those tires if he hated him
and he flatted I'll buy him you're right I should do that buy tell tell him to
also not run 100 PSI because he's probably running 100 PSI you know he does that where I'm like
you should run this and he's like yeah I've been doing it this way for years something something like that classic
classic dad move but yeah you're right I should just do it and be like listen there are no more tubes in there so
you're welcome he probably needs like 200 mm long valve STM for those super
deep dish Road oh I got I got a question for you to guys next question hey guys love the
show what's your opinion on mullets hair and bikes thanks from Toby because you guys both currently own bullet bikes
whoa that's true oh uh 150 traveling up they are the shiz yeah I love them for
that I think under that you start getting into like might not be worth it um depending
on your riding style and your riding Zone um I think it it's very Zone dependent on that but I think if you're
over 150 travel I don't see a downside personally you're not going fast uphill
so like yeah I mean I love it they turn so sick they turn so well and it is so
fun and I personally think like the only person who can really pull off a mullet is uh
theovon I mean I haven't seen hairstyle yeah I haven't seen anybody else I mean I mean there's a handful of people Carl
has a Carl has a mullet Carl has kind of a dirty mullet and he kind ofes he kind of has a clean mullet yeah dude he's a
or PGA dude's got to be clean I don't if there's anything clean
about on Netflix yeah all right on Netflix think Theon he's on TV and stuff and
theon's a dirty mullet yeah but that's like a personality trait yeah and he's
rocking it I I think I think if you can rock it you can rock it that's right I feel like Tian could do a good mullet
tman almost had one just recently dang I I think if you have a mullet you have to rock it if you don't it's not good yeah
you need the confidence has to be at a supreme level oh for sure yeah there's also something about it might even bring
you more confidence I think it gives you confidence yeah it do yeah well that's a really really hard-hitting topic to I
think wrap up the podcast what do you guys think yeah yep I think that's I think that's pretty we
have a few more questions but we can uh push those to next week push those to next week Josh Saunders we see your question oh you know we'll get to Josh
right now real quick cuz you just said it so now I'm all teased and ready to go hey dudes I have a big mountain bike
trip coming up soon I wonder which one it is and I'm taking my Enduro bike for those who maybe didn't catch that drift
he's going to be in Tasmania pull stamina 180 although I've heard some people say pole is how it's actually
pronounced rip pole the bike has been sitting in my guest room for several months as I've been riding the trail
bike the suspension feels okay but it's been sitting for some time would you recommend getting suspension serviced even though it has low hours of use over
the past 8 months-ish what else should I consider before packing the rig up for a new adventure Josh
Saunders um if it was I I'd say if your last service is still within a year you're
fine yeah um and it's been inside so it's been temperature like a uh
environment like protected climate controlled yeah um get like a oh what's
that fork boost Lube Fork boost Lube from wpl get a little zip tie in the fork seals get get put some Fork boost
Lube in there be good to go uh other things I probably bleed the brakes
especially if you have Shimano uh so I I I actually dove into
this hard with some break guys over this past week uh sometimes Shimano breaks
get a weeping mineral fluid that gets past the seal when your bike's been stored over winter or for 8 months mhm
and some mineral oil gets out and makes its way onto your Ro on your pads which absorbs like a sponge and then
contaminates your brakes even though you did nothing I feel like Jeff was talking about this as well recently he said that
they would take take them all out right because that would happen all the time a victim of this crime before too yeah so
what happens is the rubber in colder environments like when you store your bike in a colder place over winter
contracts right cold contracts warm expands yeah it contracts a little just enough so the oil can just weep weep by
so I would in no matter what break you have I would take your brake pads out maybe see if they're contaminated if
they're put in new pads and you could probably Salvage your rotors before you contaminate your rotors M yeah and then
do before you hit him before you ride him yep that's actually insane yeah well
I was up to you think about that I know I was going to say he should take it out for a little ride maybe and just like a
little Shakedown ride 100% don't not do that yeah for sure take it out for a little Shakedown ride before you pack it
up and and send it across the world if you're going if he's going to tazzy wash your bike new tires I'd say new tires um
if there yeah I'd probably say new tires if you're going if you're committing yourself to a trip like that get new tires get new brake pads new sealant
it's just worth it and especially going to to a yeah uh quick tip is ride your
bike with the pre current current tires that are on there and then put the fresh tires on and just ride them on the
street only don't ride them in dirt because you want to go to tazzy or New Zealand with no dirt on your bike and no
dirt on your tires zero nothing they are super crazy about that uh which is
understandable they're an island and they don't want other dirt and contaminants on their Island um but yeah
so I would I would go there with basically brand new tires I would just ride them on the road to make sure they're seated in and the sealant is
worked into the little pores that's a great tip Liam yeah I think I'm going to do the same thing actually I'm doing the
same thing well sick Josh I hope you better go do that stuff we'll know if
