When looking at dropper remotes, it can be easy to become overwhelmed with the number of options you have. That is why here at WC, we do all the hard work for you, riding bikes day in and day out testing all of the dropper remotes in the universe, so you can rest easy knowing that you are buying the best parts money can buy. A couple of our favorite remotes here at the shop are the PNW Loam lever and the PNW Puget lever. We have been getting a lot of requests for a comparison between the two so we decided to do just that!
I have been running the Puget remote for the last few months on my SB150 and have been extremely stoked with it. With great performance and subtle but handsome looks, it has never let me down and looks great while doing it – it is easy to see why I have enjoyed the lever every time I use it. The excellent quality, ergonomic feel, and super smooth actuation are similar to that of the Loam, without the higher price tag and fancy machining. Don’t sleep on this one though - if you are looking for that champagne on a beer budget, the Puget lever is the way to go.
The Loam lever on the other hand is the reigning champ in this segment, with tons of acclaim from riders here at the shop and around the world. The beautiful machining and colored pads provide a custom touch that looks great and ensures accurate actuation every time, which makes it easy to see why it has been a shop favorite since we first got our hands on it. With several mounting options and colors to choose from, there is a good chance that PNW has a loam remote that will go perfectly on your bike. If you are looking for that extra something that your bike has been missing, chances are the Loam remote is exactly what you have been looking for.
Which remote is right for you? It really depends on your needs, and what kind of vibe you are going for with your bike. The nice thing is you really can’t go wrong with either in my opinion. One thing is for certain, if you are serious about your bike, a quality dropper lever like the Puget or the Loam is one of those things that you really can’t live without!
