There's nothing more satisfying than taking care of any repairs for your bike on your own. Even if you have the know how it doesn't do you much good without a good repair stand. Our buddy Jack Adler shares his thoughts on his new Park Tool PCS-10 Home Mechanic Repair Stand. Check it out!
As a new MTB rider, about 1.5 years now, I have really become enamored with riding and the mechanics of the bike. I have been using a Feedback Scorpion stand that you insert into the BB. I have to sit on a milk crate to work on the lower half of the bike and lean over it to work on the top. Not very stable. Best for washing the bike, that I’ll give it. Hence, the Park Tool PCS-10 repair stand.
The welded steel construction is heavy duty. Assembly was quick and easy. Really had no need to look at the manual, just at the picture of the stand completed. Once put together, I was amazed just how easy it was to open the clamp jaws and place my dropper post securely into it. The repair stands clamp is fully rotatable and can be set to clamp vertically, horizontally or anywhere between. This rotating action is awesome. I can work on my bike upsides down. It’s great.
Portability wise it’s good. The Park Tool repair stand is a bit weighty at 7.49kg, but still easy to fold up and put in the trunk of your car. I can see bringing the work stand on longer riding trips. Doesn’t take up much space in the trunk of my car, leaving more than enough room for all the rest of my kit.
Overall I am extremely stoked with this stand and have been using it constantly for maintenance on my bike. Oh yeah, my back is happy now too.
