Of course tools, in general, are important to keep around if you want to work on your mountain bike. Nowadays there are are many components that are subject to over-tightening or stripping. Having a proper torque wrench is key. Our friend Andrew shares his thoughts o the Park Tool ATD-1.2 Adjustable Torque Driver. Check it out!
Everything on a bike has a torque spec. It can get really expensive to have a torque wrench tool for all the different requirements. The one area that I think is most important and we change sometimes on a daily basis is the handlebars. I am often changing where my brake levelers are, bleed my dropper post, or straighten the bars after a nasty fall.
That is where the Park Tool ATD-1.2 Adjustable Torque Driver fits perfectly. With my carbon bars, I don’t want to over-torque my brake clamps and crack the bar. The Park Tool torque driver does 4-6 Nm which is perfect for everything on the handlebars. It is also simple to use. Just select the torque setting and twist until it clicks.
I love all my Park Tool tools but this is one of my favorites. Also, the fact that it comes with 4 bits in a convenient holder just adds to the tool.
