It get's annoying trying to find the right tool for the job when working on your bike. But, Park Tool has your back with very specific tools. Our friend, Eric, Used a Straight Internal Snap Ring Pliers to rebuild their Brake lever. See what they think of the tool!
Oh Snap! You'll get the power! ...to do some awesome work with these pliers! (Sorry if you don't get the reference. I'll see myself out after this review.)
The only reason I bought these pliers was to rebuild my SRAM Guide R brake levers. There is a tiny snap ring holding the piston in that is a pain to get out without it. Using the tool, you'll see that you get what you expect from Park Tool. A quality tool at a, uh.. price. I like the rubberized handle that's very grippy, but not too thick. With these pliers being so tiny, you need to have a good grip, while retaining a tactile feel with the tool so you know when you've correctly got the snap ring in place.
With the Small opening in the brake lever, you can't see inside very well with the tool inserted. Once the snap ring is removed and the parts replaced, the ring goes back into place. Here is where I had a moderate issue of getting it seated again. I feel if the pliers were a bit longer, so that the thin part of the pliers were a few millimeters longer, they would have fit into the hole with a little more maneuvering room, making it easier to install the snap ring. It just took a little more finesse to get things going.
Overall, it is a quality tool that gets the job done without too much hassle. Plus it's one more tool towards having one of everything that Park Tool offers! My tool box gets bluer and bluer every day while my bank account gets smaller and smaller. What are you going to do? Buy more Park Tool, that's what I'm going to do.
