If you like to ride rough trails, picking up a chainguide with bashguard is a great idea. It will protect you and your bike from any excess damage while charging through rocks, boulders, and roots. OneUp Components makes some of the best and their chainguide with bashguard combo is tough to beat for the price. Check out what our customer had to say about his!
I bought a used 2018 Yeti SB5C Lunch Ride recently. It’s in mint condition and the move to a high-end current mountain bike from my 2000 GT iDrive is very exciting; yet also a little unnerving as this bike is more indicative of my bank account than my riding skills. A spell of bad weather led me to tending extraordinary care and attention on my new steed during the snowy and muddy March days.
Fortunately, Worldwide was ready to help out. They had the answer for immediate needs like a SRAM Powerlock Link (1x12) as well as the appropriate Yeti derailleur hanger to help me dream of epic rides where a bent hanger or broken chain would be problematic without a complete repair kit. Most critical however, was the OneUp chain guide with Bashguard that Worldwide Cyclery had ready in stock for me. Shipping was expedient and timely and boxing was thorough and safely put together. The OneUp was as easy to install as Jeff said so in his video. No challenges at all with fitment and the included shims and tool to determine shim width required were super simple to use. The design is really elegant to enable minimal tear down to install. I didn’t need to pull off the chain or cranks to install.
Setting up the chainguide portion was a breeze. Now my carbon frame will not have to suffer the scars of a flying chain and I will suffer the indignities of getting left behind because of my lack of fitness rather than a thrown chain. Bash guard install was similarly easy. Sizing was simple to determine which of the three included bash guard sizes to use and the chainring is now fully protected from my careless driving. Dings that might have been concerning on the Yeti’s 20 year old predecessor now are verboten so I’m super stoked that Worldwide had the goods to get me ready to ride worry free this Spring. Did I mention that I shopped pretty hard and Worldwide Cyclery won on price as well as availability? And that Jeff’s instructional videos and tutorials have helped on the current repairs and upgrades, but also on other parts of my mountain bike education.
It may still be a while before each of us is able to get to the trails we love and enjoy them without face masks and Pandemic worries. I’m happy I’ve got some capability to ride locally even if it’s not as technical and epic as desired. I know that when the world does return to normal and I’m able to take the Yeti to terrain for which it is designed; that Worldwide Cyclery has helped prepare my bike to be ready to take on whatever the trail throws at me.
