The Evil Chamois Hagar, a bike with classic Evil style, that doesn’t fit into a category at all. I would even bet if you tried to categorize it, you might be struck by the bike gods, so let's just not try. A fully rigid bike designed to be ridden on all terrain types, with a 66.6 degree headtube angle and clearance for 700 x 50c with mud, even some 29 x 2.1 tires, a custom made fork and 6 bottle cage mounts. I think Evil has made the Chamois Hagar ready for whatever you think you are capable of throwing at it.
The crew at Evil along with Dave Weagle, took a completely opposite approach to a gravel bike than any company has even thought to try. Most try taking a road bike and adding clearance but not changing much, or even putting a rigid 29er fork on an xc bike, instead The Chamois Hagar was born from an aggressive trail bike without suspension. With Evil wanting the most amount of tire clearance possible and a shorter stem in the range of 45-70mm there became a need for the design of a custom carbon fork. Along with these key points, the team knew they needed to include features like; dropper post compatibility, lots of bottle mounts, rack and fender mounts and the ability to run 1x or 2x drivetrains.
Final Thoughts:
The bike itself is a crazy looking rig and at first it really just might have you saying WTF is that. Well, I don’t even think I can begin to answer that until I get the change to ride one and see what this bike is all about for myself. I can say I am excited that Evil has decided to make such a crazy bike and continue to push what bikes can do just like they did with the Evil Following and Evil Wreckoning. With a 66.6 degree headtube angle making most xc and light trail bikes seem lame and outdated, an eye-grabbing solitude, and a crazy amount of features it may make all mountain bikers and commuters alike fall in love with this Evil The Chamois Hagar.
