Nepal Mustang Capra: 10 Days in the Himalayas with Worldwide Cyclery & Revel Bikes

Nepal Mustang Capra: 10 Days of High-Alpine Riding, Culture, and Himalayan Views

Worldwide Cyclery & Revel Bikes is fired up to help bring riders to one of the most unreal mountain bike destinations on the planet: Nepal.

Trip Dates: Janurary 4th - Janurary 13th 2027

For 2026, we are teaming up with Revel Bikes and Epic Rides Nepal for the Mustang Capra, a 10-day guided mountain bike trip through Kathmandu, Pokhara, Jomsom, Muktinath, Lubra Valley, Marpha, Kalopani, Tatopani, and some of the most jaw-dropping terrain in the Himalayas. Joining on the trip will be 2 Worldwide Cyclery and 2 Revel staff there to share the good times and spread the stoke.

This is not just another “cool place to ride bikes” kind of trip. Nepal is home to some of the tallest mountains on Earth, ancient villages, deep river valleys, high-alpine passes, wild descents, and more culture than your post-ride brain will be able to process in one sitting. It is big, rugged, beautiful, and exactly the kind of place that makes you question why you ever ride the same local loop three times a week.

If you have ever wanted to ride your mountain bike through the Himalayas, this is the one.

The Trip

The Nepal Mustang Capra is a 10-day mountain bike tour built around huge scenery, supported logistics, high-altitude riding, cultural stops, and plenty of time on the bike.

You will start in Kathmandu with sightseeing, bike assembly, and a welcome dinner before getting straight into the riding with shuttle laps near Phulchowki and the Bamboo Trail. From there, the trip heads to Pokhara, then into the Mustang region, where the real high-alpine adventure begins.

Think jeep shuttles, ancient villages, apple orchards, pine forests, glacier lakes, suspension bridges, Himalayan views, long descents, and trails that make your camera roll look like a fake desktop background.

Ride Highlights

This trip covers a little bit of everything: city sightseeing, local Kathmandu trails, high-altitude Mustang riding, cultural stops, and big descents through some of the most unique terrain you could possibly pedal through.

Kathmandu and Bamboo Trail

After arriving in Kathmandu, bikes will be built and checked before the first proper ride of the trip. Day two heads toward Phulchowki, one of the highest points around the Kathmandu Valley, for shuttle laps on Fulchowki Trail and Bamboo Trail.

It is the perfect way to shake out the travel legs, get the bike dialed, and remind yourself that yes, you did in fact fly to Nepal to ride singletrack.

Pokhara and Fewa Lake

From Kathmandu, the trip takes a short flight to Pokhara. This day is more about soaking in the place than smashing pedals. You will visit the World Peace Pagoda, take in views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, hike down toward Fewa Lake, and boat back across before settling into Pokhara.

Not a bad rest-ish day.

Jomsom, Chhema Lake, and the Windy Valley

Once the trip reaches Jomsom, things get very real, very quickly. The ride heads up toward roughly 4,000 meters by shuttle before dropping into trails that pass apple orchards, pine forests, and Chhema Lake, a glacier lake fed by Mount Nilgiri.

From there, it is downhill singletrack back toward Jomsom, with the kind of views that make it extremely difficult to keep your eyes on the trail. Which, to be clear, you should still do.

Muktinath and Thorong Phedi

The Muktinath day is one of the big ones. The route includes Kagbeni Village, Jhong Village, Muktinath at 3,800 meters, and a shuttle up toward Thorong Phedi at 4,200 meters before descending back toward Muktinath.

This is proper Himalayan mountain biking: high elevation, big landscapes, ancient villages, and a descent that will probably make your GoPro battery cry for mercy.

Lubra Valley and Marpha

From Muktinath, the trip continues through old villages toward Jhakkot before shuttling back up toward Lubra Pass. From there, riders drop into the Lubra Valley trails before continuing toward Dhumba Lake and finishing in Marpha Village.

Lubra is one of those names that mountain bikers who have ridden Nepal tend to say with a very specific look in their eyes. The good kind. The “you just have to go ride it” kind.

Kalopani, Tatopani, and the Deepest Gorge

The final riding days continue toward Kalopani and Tatopani, passing villages, suspension bridges, waterfalls, and huge Himalayan views. Kalopani serves up views of Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, Nilgiri, and Annapurna, while the ride toward Tatopani rolls through the Kali Gandaki Gorge area, one of the deepest gorges in the world.

The trip then transfers back to Pokhara before returning to Kathmandu for sightseeing in Bhaktapur and one final night in Nepal.

Ride Profile

This trip is supported, but it is still a mountain bike trip in Nepal. Expect real elevation, real trails, and real days on the bike.

Some key ride days include:

  • Kathmandu Ride: 30 km, 200 m climbing, 600 m descending
  • Jomsom to Chhema Lake to Jomsom: 18 km, 910 m climbing, 900 m descending
  • Jomsom to Thorong Phedi to Muktinath: 40 km, 750 m climbing, 2,460 m descending
  • Muktinath to Lubra to Marpha: 28 km, 950 m climbing, 1,200 m descending
  • Marpha to Kalopani: 30 km, 700 m climbing, 795 m descending
  • Kalopani to Tatopani: 26 km, 300 m climbing, 1,600 m descending

So yes, there are shuttles. And yes, you should still show up with some fitness.

Who Is This Trip For?

The Nepal Mustang Capra trip is for riders who want more than a standard bike vacation. This is for people who want big mountains, big culture, big travel days, and riding that feels completely different from anything back home.

You do not need to be a professional enduro racer, but you should be a confident mountain biker who is comfortable on longer descents, rough terrain, changing weather, high elevation, and big days outside.

If your dream trip includes incredible food, ancient cities, high-mountain trails, suspension bridges, wild views, and a healthy amount of “I can’t believe we are riding bikes here,” Nepal should be very high on your list.

What To Pack

Because this trip takes place in the Himalayan Mountains, packing the right gear is not just about being comfortable, it is about being prepared. Weather can change quickly, riding days can be long, and you may be away from your main travel bag for big stretches during the day. The official packing list emphasizes two big things: bring flexible clothing layers and bring any bike parts that are specific to your bike.

Recommended Bags

  • Day Bag: A 10–15L riding backpack with a 2–3L hydration reservoir. This is what you will carry on the bike each day.
  • Travel Bag: A heavy-duty, water-resistant duffel or dry bag for clothing, extra gear, personal items, and supplies.
  • Bike Bag: An EVOC, Biknd, similar travel case, or a carefully packed cardboard bike box.

Your main travel bag will only be accessible at the hotel in the evening and morning, so your day bag needs to carry everything you may need while riding: water, snacks, layers, rain gear, repair items, first aid, and bike-specific spares.

Bike Tools and Spares

If you are bringing your own bike, bring the parts that are specific to your bike. This is especially important for items that may be difficult or impossible to find once you are in Nepal.

Recommended bike spares and tools include:

  • Multi-tool with hex wrenches
  • Mini hand pump
  • Shock pump
  • Spare derailleur hanger
  • Spare rear derailleur
  • Spare brake pads
  • Spare brake rotor
  • Spare chain
  • Quick links
  • Spare tire
  • Spare tubes
  • Spare valve and valve cores
  • Tubeless sealant
  • Tubeless plug or patch kit
  • Tire boot
  • Tire levers

If you are renting a bike in Kathmandu, a full tool kit is not required, but you should still bring your normal ride essentials.

Riding Gear

Bring the mountain bike gear you would want for long, remote, high-alpine rides:

  • Helmet
  • Riding shoes
  • Knee pads
  • Elbow pads
  • Riding gloves for both warm and cold conditions
  • Riding socks for both warm and cold conditions
  • Riding shorts with liner
  • Riding pants
  • 3–4 long-sleeve riding jerseys
  • Full-sleeve baselayer
  • Rain/wind jacket
  • Rain/wind pants
  • Neck gaiter or bandana
  • Sunglasses or riding eye protection
  • Thin insulated/down jacket rated around -10°C

General Clothing

For off-bike time, travel days, and cold evenings, pack layers that can handle a wide range of weather:

  • Warm beanie or cap
  • Brimmed hat
  • T-shirts, short and long sleeve
  • Pants and shorts
  • Warm long underwear top and bottom
  • Hoodie or pullover
  • Warm wool socks
  • Hiking shoes
  • Flip flops or sandals
  • Medium insulated/down jacket rated around -20°C
  • Swim shorts

Electronics and Personal Items

Nepal uses 220–240V power, so bring the right charging setup for your devices.

  • Headlamp
  • Extra headlamp batteries or USB charger
  • USB wall plug
  • Plug adapter
  • USB cables
  • Phone charging cable
  • Camera
  • Headphones
  • Sunglasses case and microfiber cloth
  • Small dry bag
  • Snacks
  • Journal or book
  • Pack cover

Toiletries and Med Kit

Bring your normal travel toiletries, plus a small personal med kit for minor trail and travel issues.

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Contacts, solution, glasses, and eye drops if needed
  • Razor
  • SPF chapstick
  • Daily medications
  • Emergency medications
  • Soap and shampoo
  • SPF 50 sunscreen
  • Wet wipes
  • Facial tissues
  • Ear plugs
  • Band-Aids
  • Alcohol wipes
  • Medical tape
  • Self-cling gauze
  • Ibuprofen
  • Imodium
  • Steri-strips
  • Moleskin
  • Triple antibiotic ointment

The short version? Pack for big mountain weather, long days on the bike, and limited access to replacement bike parts. Flexible layers and bike-specific spares are the big ones. Everything else is there to make sure the trip stays fun, even when the Himalayas decide to throw a little bit of everything at you.

Final Thoughts

There are mountain bike trips, and then there are trips you talk about for the rest of your life.

The Nepal Mustang Capra falls pretty firmly into the second category. Ten days in Nepal, riding through the Himalayas with local guides, supported logistics, Revel Bikes, and the Worldwide Cyclery crew? That is not exactly your average long weekend shuttle mission.

If you have been waiting for a bucket-list trip that blends serious mountain biking, huge scenery, and a full cultural experience, this is it.

Pack your bike, bring your legs, and make sure your camera has plenty of storage. Nepal is calling.
