Mountain bike tires have come an incredibly long way since the beginning. Performance and durability are lightyears ahead of where we started but with so many options comes a bit of confusion as well. Maxxis makes more tires than we know what to do with but the perfect one for every ride exists. Check out a fellow rider's review of the Aggressor rear tire below!
I recently bought the Maxxis Aggressor 27.5" x 2.5" as a replacement tire for my Canyon Spectral. Set up was super easy. The tire looks great on my bike with a super gnarly tread pattern. I wish the tire came in a 2.6" width, but it doesn't seem to change the performance of the tire.
This is the best rear tire I've ever ridden. It's fast-rolling due to the middle tread pattern, super grippy in all kinds of terrain, and clings to the trail when leaning over in turns.
It has the perfect amount of grip for any type of riding I want to do. I don't spend a lot of time on cross country trails, preferring jump lines and rock gardens, it's tough and durable. This tire meets my expectations and needs whether I'm climbing or descending.
I replaced my previous Maxxis tire because I'd worn it out. It served me well for the time I had it and I am hoping this tire lasts as long through the punishing riding I enjoy doing. I chose this tire after researching the best rear tires for my bike and riding style. Maxxis tires are readily available and come in a wide selection of sizes and tread patterns. Shipping from Worldwide Cyclery was pretty quick, even during the Pandemic, and their customer service is awesome, as always.
