When it comes to essential mountain bike components, the invention of the dropper seatpost ranks pretty high. It's arguably a part of riding that most can't live without. One of our valued customers shares some thoughts on the Fox Transfer Performance Elite Dropper Seat Post. Check it out!
My Fox Transfer Performance Elite dropper post lever works about as good as I would expect. It does what it was made to do very well, without performance any problems. I do, however, like the old Fox Transfer dropper post lever more than this one. For me, this one is a little bit less comfortable on your finger, but I did have the old one for about 2 years and maybe I am just still used to that one. Even though I had liked the old lever design more, I am still very satisfied with this one, and I don't plan on replacing it.
The lever was simple and easy to install, as all you do is clamp it onto your handlebars with an Allen wrench.
The grooves are nice on the front side of the lever for your thumb, so you can feel where to put it, and so there is a little bit of grip so your thumb does not slip when you are pushing the lever in. When you reach your thumb over to press the lever it is easy and comfortable to find, you don't have to be overreaching or under reaching to get to it. It is in the perfect up and down position, and you can adjust how far it is, and the tilt at which it is at. To mount the cable on you just feed it through a little hole and then you clamp it down with an Allen key, the same way you would with your derailleur cable. The Fox lever also has the cool Fox logo design on it, which came out well and looks pretty good and is a cool addition that was not on the old lever design.
One thing that is annoying on the new Fox Transfer dropper post lever is that it seems like you need to slide the cable through another little hole, that comes after the spot where you tighten the cable down at before you put the crimp on if you want the cable tucked away and out of sight. I failed to notice that that is what to do, so my cable just hangs out next to the lever. It is out of the way, I don't even have to think or worry about it while I'm riding but it just does not look as pretty if you leave the cable out and not tuck it through the hole.
It doesn't get in the way or anything like that, it just looks less pretty than if it were tucked away. It is not super noticeable at first glance but once your kind of studying the cockpit you can see the cable, but it doesn't look bad.
