The Fox 38 fork is for the chunkiest trails, biggest drops, and will pretty much monster truck over everything. Now that it has been out for a few months, we are seeing more customers swap out there current forks for the beefier 38. That is exactly what our customer Steven did. Check out his review to get his thoughts on the Fox 38 fork!
I bought this fork not but a month ago upgrading from a RockShox Yari with the RC dampener and boy is this so much of a noticeable upgrade. This is my first Fox branded product I have bought to upgrade and I think it's not going to be my last. When you compare the dampener side by side there is such a noticeable difference in everything, the small bump compliance just TRACKS the ground like a missile and since you can play around with the rebound and compression high and low speed you won't have any problems.
The stiffness is no joke this thing is rock solid and only has a little bit of forward/backward play on extreme technical sections that I don't have any problems with and only noticed when I was really seeing what its limits are. The bleed ports are a cool addition but I don't like how they spit a bit of oil when u use them so I don't really see it as too much of an upgrade over the zip tie trick. The new brake arch and bolt-on fender attachment points I will have to speak of later because I definitely will be using it in the early springtime.
The Fox 38 is a bit heavier than the Yari but if you came here for weight savings this is the wrong fork. The install was relatively straight forward but I did have to have someone change my hub caps from the RockShox torque caps and lathe them down to fit the fox fork but other than that it's a normal fork install and I actually didn't decide to add more travel and stuck with 160mm because of how tunable this thing is. As for the tuning, it only took a quick look at the tuning guide for a baseline and I had mine dialed in about 2 good rides and haven't messed with it since. The low-speed compression works as a climb switch sometimes but other than that I don't need to. Haven't even added volume reducers even though it came with 3.
The guys over at Worldwide Cyclery were super helpful on the phone and kept me up to date on the special order status and. I can't wait to upgrade and buy from them again.
