Dropper Seatposts are a must-have in today's society. Why not make riding more convenient? There is no reason you should be running an archaic rigid post anymore. Crank Brothers is probably one of the most under-rated companies when it comes to those who produce dropper seatposts and their Highline post ranks among the best in our books. Craig recently upgraded to the Highline on his Trek Remedy. Let's see how he likes it!
I have a 2019 Trek Remedy in a size 17.5 which is closest to a s/m bike frame. The bike came with a Bontrager line 125 mm dropper seatpost which is a very good dropper seatpost for the price. Trek suggests that it is the longest seatpost that can fit that frame size, however, after researching many different dropper seatposts, the Crank Brothers Highline 150mm was the only one that would fit the frame. Once installed at the right height, the seatpost is just about a 1/4" from bottoming out in my frame, which still allows it to work flawlessly.
Installation was very simple and straight forward and since the seatpost came with a new cable and housing I swapped the original out. I did not need the new lever since I already had a Wolf Tooth Remote and I like having the positive contact from the metal ridges rather than a smooth or rubber surface. The Jagwire housing that comes with the dropper seatpost is extremely durable and seems to have a smoother more consistent interior finish than my original housing. The overall finish of the dropper is extremely nice and looks more refined than any other dropper seatpost. Even though I love Fox suspension products, in my opinion, Crank Brothers always has products with more precision and thought out components.
The dropper was a little stiff and seemed to lag upon pushing the lever for the first dozen or so cycles. After using the seatpost for a few rides it is now extremely smooth and reliable. The unique action on the dropper seatpost is great for my frame since it has a shorter seat tube than many other bikes of the same size. The action allows the seatpost to be shorter than all other dropper seatposts of the same size giving it the ability to fit in short seat tubes.
"I am sure the dropper doesn't make me a better rider but, I have more confidence transitioning between climbing and descending now. I would absolutely recommend this dropper seatpost to anyone because of the reliability and smooth action. If a clean refined look and reliability are what you are looking for, this and all Crank Brothers products are a must-have." - Craig de la Torre
