Ever wanted that weight off of your back when riding? Or, do you want to ditch the backpack for those short rides, but still need to bring the essentials? Backcountry Research has you covered. Our friend, Daniel, has been trying out the frame strap, see what they think!
After waiting for this product to be available for so long I was happy to finally have the opportunity to place an order. If you are considering purchasing this very functional accessory and you see that it is in stock, do not wait to pull the trigger. Upon the product arrival the strap instantly impressed. It is clearly very well made and it feels quite durable.
The Mutherload strap is long enough so that is can hold a number of items to your frame so you have more space in your pack, or even better, it allows you to be one step closer to riding pack free. On shorter trails or days at the bike park where there is less reason to carry a pack the Backcountry strap really comes in the clutch. It can squeeze into tight places to bear the weight of the must-bring spare tube, or hold even more trail goods like tire levers and Co2 canisters when inner-frame space is available. It can also be installed on the back the saddle.
This piece of equipment does not slide around easily and it does not need to be removed driving to and from the trail.
If fastened correctly the strap is tight enough so that the strap's rotations around the frame are at a minimum thanks to the grippy underside. I have not had any issues with this strap pulling off paint of causing the Invisiframe to become unstuck. This piece of equipment does not slide around easily and it does not need to be removed driving to and from the trail. I prefer that this strap is made with hook and loop so you have all the options for how tight you'd like to make it unlike other straps which use a belt loop esq system. Whether you predominantly ride XC or strictly downhill, if you're considering riding without a pack, this strap has practical application
The strap can be tricky to install at first but on the positive side, once it is installed there aren't many reasons to need to continuously be removing and replacing it regularly unless you're doing a lot of trail-side maintenance. This product may seem pricey for a glorified strap, but it does what it promises to do, with style.
