Mountain Bike Saddles

A saddle is one of the most personal components on a bike -- what works great for one rider is completely wrong for another. Shape, width, padding, and rail material all matter, and the only way to really know is to ride it. That said, we've sold a lot of saddles over the years and have a pretty good sense of what works for different types of riders and riding styles. We stock the full range from every brand worth running.

How to Pick the Right Saddle

The most important factor is saddle width, which should match your sit bone width. Too narrow and you'll be uncomfortable on longer rides; too wide and it'll chafe on technical terrain. Shape matters too -- flat saddles work well for riders who move around a lot on the bike, while saddles with more curve suit riders who stay in one position. For aggressive trail and enduro riding, a shorter saddle with a flat profile and minimal padding tends to work best since you're spending a lot of time off the saddle anyway. Before you buy, watch our video on top 8 MTB saddle facts vs myths -- it cuts through a lot of the common misconceptions and will save you from buying the wrong saddle. We also have practical tips for feeling better on the bike overall if you want to go deeper on fit and comfort.

WTB Saddles

WTB is our most popular saddle brand. The Volt is one of the best-selling trail saddles on the market -- we have a WTB Volt Team customer review and a WTB Volt Titanium rider review if you want real-world feedback. The Silverado is the other WTB staple -- flatter profile, works great for riders who move around a lot. We have multiple WTB Silverado rider reviews worth reading. The WTB Koda is a great option for shorter saddle fans.

Ergon Saddles

Ergon is the go-to for riders who prioritize comfort on longer rides. Their SM series uses sit bone width sizing to get the fit right, which makes a real difference. The SM Pro is their most popular model and we have more rider reviews on it than almost any other saddle -- check out our employee review and multiple rider reviews for the full picture. For enduro-specific riding, the Ergon SM Enduro Comp and SM Enduro are both excellent. The SM Sport Gel is a great entry point into the Ergon lineup.

Other Brands

SDG makes some of the most durable and aggressive saddles for enduro and DH riding. Deity has a loyal following -- the Speedtrap and Sidetrack are both worth a look. Fizik rounds out the lineup for riders who want a road-influenced feel on the trail.

Rail Material

Steel rails are the most affordable and durable. Titanium rails save meaningful weight and have a bit of flex that smooths out rough terrain -- the WTB Volt Ti is a great example of this done right. Carbon rails are the lightest option but less forgiving of impacts, best suited for XC and weight-conscious builds.
