The Loam Grip XL features two contrasting patterns and these dueling motifs play an important ergonomic role. Thin strips run horizontally across the grip’s surface for enhanced traction and supple feel, while the thicker mountain pattern helps support the pad of your hand. Beefing up this outer zone with a heartier design helps combat compound deterioration, ensures the grip is absorbing more vibration and provides needed structure to support the additional body weight pressing down on this crucial contact point. The pattern isn’t the only thing designed to keep your hands happy. The Loam Grip XL was purpose built for the demands of Enduro/Trail riding, and developing the right compound for this was extremely important. We needed to identify a blend that was soft enough to absorb vibration, yet firm enough to keep its shape under pressure. PNW developed the LOAM CARBON BAR, they identified that a great carbon bar needs to deliver a balance of vertical compliance to smooth out chatter on the trail, and horizontal stiffness for predictable handling. To achieve this ideal balance we developed our patent pending CBD Layup. Unlike questionable gas station CBD gummies, PNW's Compliant Bore Design actually works. Compliant Bore Design refers to the unique inside shape, layup, and wall thickness of the Loam Carbon Handlebar. By utilizing EPS molding and FEA Analysis we were able to design a unique bore shape with a consistent inner texture which allowed PNW to optimize the wall thickness. This unique and smooth shape is what makes up our CBD layup. The PNW ideology of geometry complements the longer and longer reach numbers of modern trail/enduro bikes by offering a slightly more upright ride, keeping wrists and shoulders fresh. We introduced this geometry with the Rage Handlebar, which has received raucous reviews from all types of riders.
