Fox Suspension Forks

Fox makes some of the best suspension forks on the planet, and they've been doing it long enough that pretty much every fork in their lineup is dialed. The naming convention is simple once you know it -- the number is the stanchion diameter in millimeters, and bigger stanchions mean more stiffness and more travel. So a Fox 32 is a lightweight XC fork, and a Fox 40 is a full-on downhill weapon. Everything in between is where most riders live.

Which Fox Fork Is Right for You?

The Fox 34 is the trail fork sweet spot -- 120-140mm of travel, light enough to pedal all day, stiff enough to handle real terrain. It's what a huge percentage of trail bikes ship with from the factory, and for good reason. Step up to the Fox 36 and you're getting into enduro territory -- 140-160mm, beefier chassis, built for riders who push harder and hit bigger stuff. The Fox 38 is the most aggressive single-crown fork Fox makes, with 160-170mm of travel and a chassis that's closer to a downhill fork than a trail fork. If you're running a long-travel enduro bike and you ride it hard, the 38 is worth serious consideration. At the top of the gravity end sits the Fox 40 -- a dual-crown downhill fork that's been the benchmark in bike parks for years.

On the XC side, the Fox 32 and 34 Step-Cast are built around weight savings and efficiency. If you're racing or just want the lightest possible setup, that's where to look.

We broke down the full Fox fork lineup -- what each model is for, who it's built for, and how they compare -- in this article. Worth reading before you buy if you're not sure which model fits your bike and riding style.

All Fox forks come in Performance and Factory spec. Factory gets Kashima coating on the stanchions and the GRIP X or GRIP 2 damper depending on the model -- more adjustability, better small-bump sensitivity. Performance is the more affordable entry point and still an excellent fork. We stock both across the full lineup.
